[SOLVED] What is the best Server Software?

Windows Server seems a bit of a mess and pricey

Ubuntu server with the endless CLI seems a bit too much for much for my liking and doesn’t seem to run after I have closed down the pc, cue more endless CLI commands to get it up and running again
I know there are endless tutorials on youtube, but they don’t help in me deciding which is better

I don’t want to turn the build into a NAS

Can anyone suggest what’s the best one ?

Mainly for my movie collection so I don't have to use my main computer all the time

Unless you have some odd requirements, that doesn't need anything special.

Win 10 Home, in just about any pc from the last 5 years.
Or Linux.

But yet in your original post you said "I don’t want to turn the build into a NAS" Those seem to be conflicting positions.
It sounds like a NAS is exactly what you would want.

Many routers have the ability to stick a USB external drive onto them and share the drive over the network. I do that, no need to run a separate computer.

These usually have serious speed limitations though.
