What is the current top Chipset for a new gaming rig 8/22/16

The Z170 Chipset for 6th Generation Skylake CPUs.
If you want to go full enthusiast, there is the 2011-3 socket which has the higher core offerings by Intel, but they are quite pricy with the exception of the 5820k.
Only recommended for gaming if you're into overclocks.
What is your budget for your build and are you overclocking?

Kaby Lake isn't out yet, going to be probably towards the end of this year, and only going to be roughly a 5% increase in performance i'd say. Not worth waiting out for.
Key in the title is 'current' top chipset. ^.^

This is a link to my current rig build that i built back in February 2014. i am looking at upgrading to the GTX 1070 but i am worried about bottle necking, and if that is an issue of building a new rig.

Nope, absolutely no bottlenecking. 😉
As long as that CPU has a decent overclock, it should last you another 4 years at least.
A 1070 will be perfect.

I have not overclocked it. I know enough about computers to build one and i have always wanted to but i do not know how and afraid that i will mess it all up.

Will i be fine with out Overclocking and if not how do i go about overclocking and not destroying my system.
