If you look at the data sheet from Dell's website -- https://www.dell.com/support/manual...dfb1bd-b6d4-494b-80b5-afc153100aaf&lang=en-usWhat is the fastest and the best SATA or PCIe SSD for a Dell Latitude 7290 laptop?

Thank you for the reply. But I'm computer illiterate. And I believe I put my first question down wrong. I'm looking for the fastest and best SATA or PCIeIf you look at the data sheet from Dell's website -- https://www.dell.com/support/manual...dfb1bd-b6d4-494b-80b5-afc153100aaf&lang=en-us
you can see that both SATA and PCIe M.2 form factor SSDs are supported.
So a Samsung 980 would be a good choice.
If that laptop has a "M" slot (both key blocks), then you may have to go with a Dell specific drive like this -- https://drivesolutions.com/dell-latitude-3180-laptop-solid-state-drive-replacement.html It is not clear from the website if this is a SATA or PCIe drive.Thank you for the reply. But I'm computer illiterate. And I believe I put my first question down wrong. I'm looking for the fastest and best SATA or PCIe memory with the 2 notches or slots. Fastest read and right speeds and most reliable. They may be of different brands? I've never been able to find the Samsung 980 with the 2 notches or slots in the connecting part. In fact, there is so very little information on this type of memory.
Thank you very much. I understood your reply.I think you may be needing a sata type of m.2 drive like this:

As to fastest, don't bother looking.
Synthetic benchmarks look wonderful, but most activity is random and ssd devices all perform about the same in that mode.
You will not note any differences
It is the pcie devices that have high sequential data rates on the order of 7000 MBps.
sata devices have sata speeds on the order of 550 MBps.
