What is the hp photosmart 1000 used for

I have got a PHOTOSMART 2000 HP AND I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS USED AS A PRINTER OR JUST PHOTOS

I think it is intended to function both as a photo and document printer. Personally I wouldn't use this type of printer for documents due to the cost of running. A cheap monochrome laser printer is preferable for speed, reliability and cost of running.
