GTX 970 uses 12 Amps, your CPU uses 7 amps, add your HDDs, headroom for expansion and PSU degrading (not to mention they aren't 100% efficient) and I would recommend a 450w Gold+ or a mid to high end 500w. Grab one with a single 12v rail as you won't be able to power your system with multi rails at that low of a wattage PSU.
Not true
With a 2 rail you can probably get away with it but not a 3 or higher rail PSU. I'm saying with a low wattage power supply having a multi rail PSU won't provide enough amperage on each rail.
Doesn't work the way you think (with good quality units such as I mentioned above), the PSU is designed
so that a power hungry component such as the GPU
pulls from more than one rail, so if the
total # of +12v amps
the GPU requires is available, then the sys will run fine.
That's why (when you look at the label affixed to the PSU) you will notice the total +12v amps avail is always
less than the sum +12v rails separately.
