I think its good to question things. However LordGreek was consistent with his story throughout the whole thread. I really can't find anything wrong with it. Yes this could be a ruse...but give me a break.

Read the reviews: This is not slander no one gets sued so how could Intell. This appears to be common practice with some retailers.....you can find the cpus on ebay.

I didn't say Intel would lose a law suit. I said they could possibly get sued and have to pay more money to the attorneys. Anyone can file a lawsuit as bad as the claim may be. The last thing companies want are big lawsuits or little lawsuits.

Also it happened way too fast. He got that new cpu fast. And we get a picture of it still in the box. What about a pictue of the box it came in with the address on it showing where it was shipped from. Did they inclose an invoice or a note? It just did not seem to add up. They give him a better cpu....

Look at all the reviews on price watch and reseller ratings with complaints about the selling of these cpus........and he can't tell us who sold it to him>?

Here is my response to that. I don't think it would be smart to put the address on the internet in a open forum do you?? Does it matter if they inclosed an invoice or a note?? He was in contact with them on the phone and through email for a week.

And why not give a better CPU? First of all it costs them virtually nothing. Second its called positive marketing. Customer realations is one of the most important aspects of running a successful business.

Third point. There are agreements made all the time in business not to disclose information. This is to protect the best interests of the company and its clients. In fact IMO this is what makes LordGreek's story very very plausible. It goes along with how professionally he has handled the whole situation. I highly doubt this is fake. If this is a ruse, LordGreek would be a great Novel writer.

OK. Some people (maybe even me) here don't have a clear understanding of what Engineering SAMPLE actually means. It is a sample (a randomly or not so randomly) unit pulled from a particular fabricated lot of manufactured parts (being CPU, coffee pot, widget, whatever) for the specific purpose of being used for design, test or example. In any case, and for whatever purpose, is clearly not designed for RESALE. If an individual, group, company or corporation receives such SAMPLE, it is clearly NOT FOR RESALE. In other words. whoever receives the ENGINEERING SAMPLE is not supposed to turn around and sell the FREE sample for PROFIT. How clear can that be?

Just because there are people selling ES's on the internet, ebay, craigslist or whatever, that doesn't make it legal or ethical. Any retailer selling parts received for free from a manufacturer is scum. No argument.

If its not legal, go right ahead and attempt to buck the system, but be prepared to suffer the consequences. In this case, the etailer that tried to pass an Engineering Sample off as OEM or USED or WHATEVER is facing a huge lawsuit against one of the largest hi-tech companies of the world. Good luck.

When I said show us the address I did not mean his I meant Intells address. Where did it ship from? I got some memory today from NewEgg and on the box is their address. In the box is a packing list of what I received. I am skeptical what can I say.

Why would the retailer send him another Engineering sample after he sends the one back.

Why would Intell send him a QuadCore. I did some searching on their site and their replacement policy is to give you the same not better. If it costs intell nothing to do this then why not give out freebees to eveyone. I have never heard of this before. That is a $1000.00 cpu.

Yes the story is possible............and impossible at the same time but hey life can be stranger than fiction.

I know I don't need to prove anything .. but KIDS on here that assume that this is all a prank / joke / whatever .. or want more pictures of product, mailing labels etc .. people .. grow up.

I did read some of the reviews on PriceWatch .. and if only these people knew the truth about ES chips .. then they would be able to do exactly what I did. Its not my fault they didn't know or even go out and find an answer. I found out because I came here to TomsHardware .. to there Forumz site and posted a couple pictures and asked a question. There is a wealth of knowledge out there that a good 80% of computer users have absolutely no clue about.

Thank you for the people who have followed along with this thread .. I have gained alot of information from my thread in which pointed me in the right direction .. contacting Intel. Its just a pain that there has to be a few bad seeds out there that just want to push buttons to get a rise out of anyone they can .. the non believers that Intel or better yet, any company ( being manufacturer, especially one that manufactures the product !! ) can be nice .. rewarding.

Maybe I need to have the persons who I contacted at Intel post a message up here as to the REAL laws behind NDA's, the Engineering Samples etc etc. The fact that these ES chips are given out for FREE to hardware, software manufacturers, review sites (like TomsHardware) .. do you get this, given for FREE .. so I came across a Online Retailer that is selling FREE ES CPU's and making a huge profit from it .. that is STEALING in my books .. and they're stealing from Intel. Since .. they are also reading this thread .. yes, in one of my emails to Intel, I was asked to attach a link to this thread so they could follow along .. to also make sure that I don't disclose any information as to the Online Retailer and names at Intel.

You seem new to the forumz so I don't think you quite understand how much fud there is out there. Asking for a picture/screenshot is no big deal.

You didn't have to do it though. No one forced you.

I honestly don't know what will happen to the retailer .. Intel definately knows alot about them already .. before I even called them.

As to the getting my monies back .. that will be the next part :lol: and I will (if people let me without getting drilled again) post the results up here about that .. being that I work for the financial institution that this was charged to .. the processing time will not be long at all. Will keep you posted.

No harm done. I don't really care about the retailer coz I prolly won't be able to buy from them as I'm from SA. I was merely explaining why the other people wanted a picture so bad. (just my view of things)

I would appreciate it if you would stop with the personal attacks as I never once personally attacked you. I actually tried to be as polite as possible to prevent a situation of flaming and such. I don't think caamsa or myself are bad seeds and, I am no KID as you so clearly put it.

I just thought a couple of things were a bit strange during the thread, and it lead me to question the validity of the transactions. Is that wrong? Do I deserve to be flamed for it? No, I don't. Just because 90% of the people on this thread beleived what you were posting, doesn't mean I have to and, it doesn't mean I am wrong for doubting. And, I was never attacking your credibility. I was simply asking for a LITTLE more. I apologize that my questioning obviously insulted you as it did, but, it's just in my nature.

Thank you for posting up the extra pictures, I know nothing can be proven to 100%, but, it seems like the truth to me. So, just chill a little, and try not to get to upset for me and caamsa asking for just a little more evidence.

The only post of mine in this thread that was fud was when I was trying to get lewbaseball to respond to me on another subject, which I should not have done in LG's thread. That was FUD, nothing else was, it was just a couple of skeptics being skeptical. There is nothing wrong with it, and no reason to get mad about it. It's life, and if you can't deal with it, you will have a hard time living as questioning something in an online forum is very minor in comparison to the crap you are going to have to deal with for the rest of your life...... can we just put this into perspective....
