So I've been looking at GPU's lately and i see on GPUBOSS that the

GTX TITAN has a higher score than the new GTX 980.

So when i checked the GTX TITAN it said it was part of the 700 kepler (and some maxwell) architecture.

How can a 700 card be faster than the flagship of 2014 i ask myself.
I'm thinking that the TITAN editions are something other than x60-x80 series?
And what about this TITAN-Z ?

I'd like to learn more

Look at legitimate sites like Anandtech or Toms. NEVER trust a site that says a 780ti can beat a 295x2

I didn't know this.

so for example the I7 4710MQ is not slower than my i5 2550K Dekstop cpu just because its on cpuboss?
i feel like a noob.

How do i asses the power of hardware now that my main websites are rendered useless XD

GPUboss uses the same benchmarks as just about any GPU hierarchy chart out there. Passmark and 3DMark are both reputable. Their "scoring system" is not what you want to look at. That's where I think the comparison to IGN comes in, but in terms of performance, their ratings are the same as any website.

GPUboss rates the GTX 780 higher than the R9 295x2, the GTX 770 higher than the R9 290, the Titan Black higher than the 295x2. Their rating system is not correct

yep its insane
