Whilst I really enjoyed 'The Godfather' trilogy, I failed to follow, or properly understand quite a bit of the story.
When I googled some of the queries I found myself left with, to my surprise, I discovered a huge online presence of explanations in respect of anomalies left to the casual viewer.
And answers were provided: from information made explicit in the novels, or other places, to stuff found in the material edited out of the commercial film releases.
Although I have watched these on numerous occasions, I guess that if I mug up on this missing stuff, I will enjoy my next viewing even more.
Perhaps it is just me, but I get really irritated when film makers treat the viewer as idiots.
'Murder on The Orient Express' I think is the worst offender. Although I have enjoyed watching, I just keep realising what a really good film it COULD have been.
