What is your opinion on these parts for a home server?

So i want to build a new home server. previously I have been using an old laptop (2 GB memory, 120 GB storage) as a server but it doesn't really cut it anymore. The new server will primarily be used to store my family's shared documents, but I may also use it as a gaming server (e.g. for Minecraft).


Here are the specs I have come up with:
Storage: 1 x 1 TB WD VelociRaptor 10000 RPM (WD10000DHTZ).

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport - 16 GB (2x8) 1600 MHz (BLS2CP8G3D1609DS1S00CEU).

CPU: AMD FX-6300 6 cores 3.5 GHz (FD6300WMHKBOX).

Chassis: Lian Li PC-A05FNB (PC-A05FNB).

PSU: Corsair CX series 500W 500CX V2 80+ Bronze (CP-9020047-EU).

GPU: ATI Sapphire PCIe 512MB HD5450 (11166-01-20R).

DVD Drive: Samsung SH-224DB DVD±RW (SH-224DB/BEBE).

Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme4 (970 EXTREME4).

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated .

If you want it to be a server, make sure the Ethernet adapter on the motherboard is capable of running at high speeds. Also, If it is a server, I would recommend getting a bigger or secondary hard drive. If you want to run it wirelessly, make sure that you have a decent network card. The RAM is solid, which should be true of every server, so that's good. I would also recommend upgrading to an AMD FX-8300/8350, as it is a relatively cheap upgrade and will help you out in the long run.

Also, are you sure that the HDD has a spindle speed of only 1000 RPM? Because if so, that's ridiculously slow.

I think I will try to find a good ethernet card for my server. I don't think we need more space on the server, but i can always add more drives. As for upgrading the processor, I don't think I want to stretch my budget more.
