Hi, I am building a new system with these specifications:

AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz
Gigabyte 970A-DS3P 2000 MHz
Sapphire Toxic R9 280X 3GB
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
WD 1TB Caviar Blue

I really liked the Corsair 200R case, and thinking about buying it with 550W PSU, but i am not sure about that if it will be sufficient for my system.

Hi apologies for the late reply but i've been travelling

Well in the end it is up to you but i consider that even with the benchmark values you posted for Metro adding then all other components, you might come short in the end.

I would play it safe just in case.

But it's your gold so ultimatly your choice :)
In the Sapphire website.....

the minimum PSU should have 750W. So here you have a hint already.

Also you should not forget that there are always those “Basic” stuff that normally are draining some Wattage also like
Other PCI cards, USB, front panel accessories, Fans and Cooling Systems, HDD’s and so on.

Summing it up I would go above the 550w just to be safe, and also have some more space to upgrade something in the future.

Just as an idea, in Idle this GPU will drain from 80w to 95w which is not much, but on Load
It will take it from 300w to above 450w in AAA Games like Metro LL or BF4.

Well this is my experience with my R9 280X Toxic……..It is an animal when it comes to Power draining.

I decided to change my CPU to FX-8320, is the 550VS still sufficient for this system? I saw some power consumption tests of the card, and it seems sufficient, but I'm not sure after your response.
