I was wondering if anyone had a list of which ports to leave open and which ones to block. I understand the general rule of block all unless you need some but then which ones should i have open?

For stricter security and control, your firewall should be set to ask your permission to open connection for any new requesting process so that you review it.

Why would you just block a port forever is beyond me.

How could anybody give you a list of ports to block? What if some of your software wants a specific port?

Block all, open only, what you need opened.
If you don't know, what you need opened, then you don't need any.

For example uTorrent may have specific port configured to operate. Then you open only this particular port.
Or ... you may want to connect to your pc via RDP. Then you open only RDP port.

freefixer gives a pretty good/easy to read accounting/ breakout of what ports are open/listening/being used (80-90% of which will be 'whitelisted' anyway) at the time of the scan....

Glasswire gives an excellent listing of connections being used by application and to which country...(most might find connections to Ukraine, Russia, or China a cause for concern...)
