Hello guys,

I have HP dv7-6108tx laptop and want to upgrade the RAM to DD3L - 12GB 1666mhz. I am not sure where to find if my laptop support 1666mhz. I was thinking of upgrading it to 8 gb 2133mhz but then I realized that I am not even sure what does my laptop supports 😛

It was initially 8 gb and one of the ram died.

I have installed Windows server and 2 machines in Virtualbox so need to upgrade the RAM to run all of them.

configuration :

Operating System
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Core i7 2630QM @ 2.00GHz
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
RAM
4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
Hewlett-Packard 3389 (CPU1)
Graphics
Generic PnP Monitor (1600x900@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics Family (HP)
2048MB ATI Radeon HD 6770M (HP)
CrossFire Disabled

Thanks

Using these sites as a base model for supported rams to populate the ram slots in your system,

It does indeed support a maximum of 16GB of DDR3 ram though with a maximum frequency of 1333MHz according to Intel's specifications as opposed to your inception of 12GB rated at 1666MHz.

The key point here is 1333MHZ, 2x8GB kit at 1.5v [strike]or 1.35v[/strike] (v=volts).
