What should I upgrade in my pc

Hi this is my first time posting so sorry if it’s wrong
I’m looking to upgrade my pc but not sure what will benefit it the most. My build is
CPU: I7-7700k
Gpu: gtx 970
Psu: 750 Watts continuous
Ram : 16 gb ddr4
Mother board: Asus z170 pro gaming
The options I’m thinking are
Selling the cpu and buying a i7-8700k
Selling the gtx 970 and buying a gtx 1080
Buying anouther gtx 970 and haveing sli
I have one 1080p monitor and am thinking of buying a oculus rift I think my pc meets the requirements for this already. Am also thinking of buying a 4K monitor at some point but I don’t think my pc as it is would have the refresh rate for 4K. I’m also not sure if my board would be able to run sli I think you just need 2 pci ports? Or if my power supply is enough for 2 cards

Your GPU should be enough for 1080p, and since cards are expensive now, I would skip it. SLI is rarely good option, as it only works in games that support it, in others having 2 cards can actually lower performance. Without knowing what exactly PSU you have, I can't say if it can run 2 970. But if you were going to 4K, then buying at least gtx 1080 is good option.
As for CPU, note that you would need to swap motherboard for 8700K. That surely would be upgrade, but do you really need it? Only if you have 144Hz or better monitor IMO, otherwise 7700K can still run any game at 60 FPS. Unless you use PC not only for gaming.

The 7700k can run games at 144hz, I think the biggest performance increase would come from a gtx 1080

Intel has made it so that the 8700k only works on z370 motherboards.

you got all the answer above, and I agree, Keep 7700K/Motherboard/Ram, and upgrade the 970 to a 180ti.

Yes, it was very funny on Intel's side to make 8th gen same socket as 7th gen yet incompatible with 7th gen boards. Though some people claim they managed to hack 7th gen motherboard BIOS to run with 8th gen CPU, but IMO even if that's true, it is too much hassle to be worth.
