I have a u2711 that I got an insane deal on through work years ago. Unfortunately it's starting to go out on me. I really like the bright, accurate colors on it and the 2560x1440 resolution.

I do a lot of gaming, but nothing like FPS. Mostly MMOs, RPGs, Civilization, etc. I've started to look into ultra wide monitors, ones with higher refresh rate, etc. Ive never seen either of these in person. I have seen 4k and while it looks great it also looks dreadful when a game doesn't support it and you have to drop the resolution so much. I don't think I'm sold on 4k.

Based on my likes of my current monitor and my gaming preferences what would you recommend? I should also add I have. GTX 970 on the way.

-144hz gaming monitor like the PG278q?
-Ultrawide monitor like the 29UM65p or the 34" variant?
-Drop to 1080p and gain 144hz like the XL2720z?
-Something else entirely?

Solution
Well, if you don't mind the 60HZ, which if you obsess over then get 144 HZ or 120HZ, but you could just go for the pretty much direct successor like the U2713, pretty much same specs except the panel, which is probably just revised.

Hi

I think I have the solution for your dieing dell u2711 and everyone out there who had dell like yours find someone who knows how to reflow some dried joints because I have 3x u2711b and all with the same fault. You can find the faults on power supply , digital board , and the t-con board
