hi

so i sold of my first pc which had a g4560 but it was running slow....

I have 2x 8 gb ddr4 and gtx 1050 2gb right now

i want to use a quad core CPU in my next build and im not sure what to go for.... i was thinking 15 6gen plus but i cant find any good deals or some people just wont post. i wanted to use 6 gen plus so i can use ddr4.

but i seen i5 4gen is pretty good. i can always ell my ddr4 ram and just use ddr3.

so is there any good cpu 2nd hand that would pair with a gtx 1050 2gb.

my budget is around 400 euros

thanks

Solution
so what amd would you say i go for ?
i have found a decent deal i think i5 6500 with mobo for £120 but its a very long drive ? is that worth it. cuz then i can add my ram and gpu. 500 watts evga psu and buy a nice case.

On Your place, I would go for AM4 platform.
TBH, for GTX 1050 You can buy absolutely anything and it won't make any difference.

But if You buy a good AM4 mobo on X470 chipset, You'll be able to upgrade Your system later.
3rd generation Ryzen will come out this year and it will use AM4 socket.

If You decide to go good gaming pc someday, all You need to do is replace Your CPU with ryzen 3rd gen and buy a new graphics card. (the first part might not be necessary if You buy R5 2600 or higher)

Go for X470 mobo and...

They Ryzen 3 2200 or 2400 are both pretty compelling options for cheap if you want a quad core processor, and the intel Core i3 3100 is a pretty good option if your an intel fan. These are all current generation or last generation units as well, so they will be a lot more compatible and have better drivers to go with them. (Compared to the i5 4th gen)

What about the 7th Gen? Thats a Kabylake Mobo that you're using, placing a 7th Gen should work fine.
What mobo are you actually using?
Think about a i5 7600k, or maybe a 7700k when you can get some cheap one.
Would prefer a 7700k because of hyperthreading. but depends on you and what you want to do with the pc.
7600k is fine, using the same since 2017, no probs till now, working fine on 4,7 stable.

Edit: If you want AMD you can also check a good 350 or 450 Mobo with a 1600x maybe, they're actually not all that expensive atm and it fit's easy in your budget.
1600x is a six core CPU and has SMT ( Simultaneous Multithreading, similiar to Intel's Hyperthreading. Good allrounder.

It should, but if you really want to multitask you could pay a little more and get a Ryzen 5 2600, (6 core 12 thread) as if you are looking to do light multitasking, you are definitely going to appreciate the extra cores and threads on the Ryzen 5 compared to the Ryzen 3 or i3. The Ryzen 5 also sport the highest clock speeds out of any of the cpus mentioned.

Yea, actually i would prefer the 2400G then, because of SMT.
But you have a GPU so as i wrote a 1600x should be more worth instead. Because the 2400G is a APU with integrated graphics which you wouldnt need since you have a 1050.

Yea they're not cheap that's right, in this case AMD has better price/performance ratings while Intel's still better performing in Games but there is not much differents.
With that budged i would recommend a AMD maybe.

I have to agree on the ryzen. AMD is pretty much across the board the best bang for your buck. Intel offers only the slimmest advantage in gaming, but demands a hefty premium.

You have been given good advice already. I'm curious what the speed of your ram is. Ryzen (unlike intel) really needs fast ram to compete. I personally would be displeased with anything under 2600.

For long-term i would prefer you a 1600x or for like 20-30 euros more the 2600.
The 1600x would take a good 350 or 370 Mobo and for the 2600 i would prefer you a 450 or 470 Board.
6 Core, SMT, far better than a Gen 6 Intel for that price.

As redit said, the faster your RAM the faster your system. But you can also upgrade your RAM later, dont need to rush the parts.
And when you want to buy new RAM watch out for some with Samsung b-dies on.
There should be a list when you google for it.

There's no point going for old Intel now.

As maziech said, this is the best way to handle this.
So you'll get a fresh board with fresh CPU and the possibility to upgrade later without changing the mobo.
A simple but good mobo would be the

MSI X470 GAMING PLUS AMD X470 So.AM4 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX Retail
And maybe the better AMD Ryzen 5 2600, its only like 20-25 euros more than the 1600x.

1) Don't buy b350. Add 50$ and invest in a good quality motherboard on X470 chipset. It will allow future upgrades.

2) As i wrote before, You can buy absolutely anything and it will be just fine for GTX 1050. This card will be a bottleneck here. Might be not enough to play 1080p at good quality because of overall performance and amount of VRAM (only 2gb)

But You can change the card later, when You'll see it's not enough for You. Fortnite on mid setting should run somehow.

If You want to go budget solution and don't really care about upgrading in the future, save a few $ and buy anything You want. You will have warranty for that, because it's brand new.

If not, buy a good mobo as You were told. (that means solid X470 mobo with good VRM section, not the cheapest A/B/AB chipsets). The cost of a good AM4 motherboard is between 150-250 EUR

As maziech already said, 350 is the cheapest option, but for long-term and quality just invest a few more bucks and get a 470 Mobo.
Asus got a good one for around 165 euros.
otherwise i would say get a cheap 450 board for like 80 euros, msi gaming b450 or something similiar.
the cpu is on you, 1600x is fine, 25 euros more you'll get the 2600 which is a bit better. depends all on you mate.
