<font color=green>"Nobody will need more than 640K"</font color=green> - <font color=red>Bill Gates</font color=red>

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

I thought he already was getting the 9600. I was only helping him with the cpu. The difference between the 9600 and 9800 is great, but so is the price. While the cpu difference is not as much, price or performance.

you should get 512mb of ram and if you want to overclock then you will need high mhz ram.

Yes it's the "c" chip with the "800" fsb that you want. The 533 chip is not nearly as good, read loose 4-500 mhz performance. I would also suggest you check out anitec.ca to compare prices. They ship to most places in Canada.

Not where i live, the difference is identical unless you go for the more expensive brands of 9800.

where i live theres a good company than can ship the 9600 pro, no prob, less than 300 cdn (about, 260 american, but +shipping n handling, n taxs..lol) thats not gonna be a problem. But if i got the AMD, which im 98% im getting the 2500+ (depends on the new AMD's on the way though)Are ALL AMD 2500+'s the same? cuz i hear of this Barton one... and the place im looking at doesnt mention it...

Yea the 2500+ uses a barton core. Has a 333mhz fsb and will overclock to around the speed of a 2800+ i'm guessing. Here i can get a 9600pro for $280 AUD which is silimilar to Canadas currency, and a Gigacube 9800 for around $440. This is about the same difference between the barton 2500 and the pentium 2.4ghz chip. As i said before gaming will be very noticably different with the 9800. Now some people will say gigacube are a cheap brand to stay away from. Here in Oz they have a good reputation as a well built card, actually owned by gigabyte. They have suffered a bad reputation because their 9600 line has some lite models that confuse many who dont check the specifications before they buy. I'm not sure what brand of 9600 you are looking at but check the prices on the gigacube card first as you might be plesently surprised.

so, all of them are Bartons? thanks... right? and these gigacube and gigabyte? no where to be seen in canada!
