[SOLVED] What to upgrade?

Hello, My current computer is as follows:

i5 7600k overclocked to 4.8 GHz
GTX 1060 6gb no overclock
24 gb of DDR4 ram
3tb Seagate Harddrive
1tb M.2 Samsung SSD
240gb M.2 Samsung SSD
240gb PNY SSD
Corsair 750w PSU
MSI Z270a TomahawakMotherboard

I've been playing some Red Dead Redemption 2, Star Citizen, Escape from Tarkov, and just have poor performance sometimes. I get they aren't the most optimized games as well. Just curious what you guys would update on this rig to make it play the newer games better than it currently is.

The CPU. 4 cores 4 threads is dead. That means a new motherboard too, thank you Intel for artificially killing compatibility.

If you could get a used i7 6700K for a decent price could you see what difference it makes.

Star Citizen is in pretty much perma beta testing, it's going to be awhile for anything under 4C/8T to run smoothly.

4thread CPUs are quickly becoming obsolete. Either swap board and go to Ryzen or try to find a 6700k/7700k for cheap and upgrade.

After that you could upgrade GPU.

I agree your cpu is the first thing for upgrading but 24gb is an odd setup that might be causing lost performance. What is your RAM configuration and what speed is the RAM and is it definitely running at the correct and in dual channel?

The ram is all running at 2133, there are 2 different brands, one being gskill and the other being corsair vengeance. Both are in channel with their same other stick. I have found out my 1060 is on the edge of dying as ita been giving dead pixela that go away with a restart.

Mixed slow 2133 ram and ryzen is a bad idea, so i added some good ram.

I can take the corsair out and just have 16gb of my gskill ripjaw, im not sure why the corsair was in there to begin with

Also just curious what the difference between the GPU you put in the part list is versus a 2060 super/2070 super aside from price?

Rx5700xt performs in between a 2060 super and a 2070 super, yet the 5700xt is cheaper than both.

It lacks hardware support flr realtime raytracing, but its a very good deal at that price.
