Question What upgrades are needed?

Hello Tom's community.
I am new here, and i've created my account because i have a question about my pc, and i'm not an expert on hardware and upgrades.

I have a feeling that i need to upgrade my CPU, but in order to do that, i'd also have to upgrade stuff like motherboard and RAM aswell, but i'm not 100% sure, that is why i ask you guys.

What needs to be upgraded? And is it even worth upgrading, or should i buy something new?

I need these upgrades to play newer games and VR on maximum settings.

CPU: Intel Core i7 477K - 3.50GHz. Haswell 22nm Technology.

RAM: 16GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @1066MHz (11-12-11-30)

Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z87-K (SOCKET 1150)

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (MSI)

Monitor: Acer 27" Predator LED G-Sync XB271HUA 144hz
