What watts?

1)I'm confused on this. If i'm gonna need a better psu for my P4 2.6c (for overclocking)rather than generic icute 420w, what is the real current draw for the processor?

2)If the difference between celeron and P4 are cache and pipeline, why is there higher amps drawn?

3)If core voltage is drawn from 12v, does that not related to 12v*18A (216w) /1.6v = 135A total available power?(my psu having max of 12v 18A).

4)Is there anyway to check watts using voltmeter?
I have an extra psu 250w. Should i use it for optical drive and harddisk thereby freeing my current 420w psu totally for the mobo?

First: I'm not up do date on my Intel crap since Intel blows of late.

Second: I know 2 things about Intel Procs 1) they need lots of power and 2) My Celeron 2.5 Northwood runs at about 55C idle on a good day.

Have you downloaded, and configured MBM5? If your rails are within 5%, no sweat, if not, replace it.

I did download MBM5 but I gave up on configuring it. Plus If I can sell this POS for $100 I figure I'm doing good LOL.

EDIT: could he/she not use speedfan to tell us voltages and temps (no complicated crap with speedfan).

You should be OK, I was running my 2.6c@3.4 with 2 opticals, 3Hd, FX5950U Oced on my Antec TP380. So unless you got a some watercooling and your going for massive OC I guess you'll be fine.

As stated, you should check your voltage if they are fluctuating, you need more power!

@jl989z: My cpu wont go over 39C, during the summer running F@H 24/7...The northbridge is actually warmer
