I'm upgrading my pc from an old asus ddr3 board and i5 6600 to an MSI A620m-e ddr5 and a 7500f, will i need to reinstall windows? my activation key says it is activated with a digital licence linked to my account. will i lose my data? If so, what will i need to do to keep it? it will be the same drives and everything (boot drive 128gb sata ssd, 256gb nvme games drive, 1tb general hdd) Thanks :)

You'll need to do a full reinstall of the OS and everything else.

For this would i need an installation drive or just do a reset of my pc?

??

You would need to use a USB flash drive of at least 8 gb capacity as the installation source. Not a "reset". A clean install, deleting all existing partitions on the drive to which Windows will be installed.

Back up any personal data from that drive before you start. Otherwise, it is gone.
