I played Doom 3, Haflife 2 and Farcry and was wondering what games will be
coming out that take advantage of these new game engines?

Anybody?

Yes!!

Replay the sublime HL2, you know you want to.
The other 2 are merely pretenders to the throne.

For a lot of gamers it won't even be worth it at that price, you'll get
barely 10 hours of game time and NO muliplayer at all (which is a crime
for a modern FPS).

please don't listen to the steam lovers bunch, and don't ever do what
they tell you, playing hl2 over and over again till your head explodes

forget about hl2 and specially don't pay attention to obsessed valve
gamers fanatics!

as for your question... did you also played what many consider 2004
GOTW? "The Chronicles of Riddick"
riddick is the real great big surprise of fps released in 2004
everyone is saying riddick is a fabulous game featuring a fabulous
engine not available in any other game
for what i've been reading in this group riddick engine looks as
good as doom3 engine
and riddick is selling with a great price, i think below 20 bucks

as for the future, and for what i know are new games featuring new
engines is digital extreme's new "pariah" sci-fi fps shooter
featuring there next new unreal engine, version 3
obviously its not for me, cause i can barely run games using the
unreal 2 engine

good gaming and please put the steam infected hl2 away for good!

Ignore people who can't seperate a distribution method from an actual game.

Game Of The Week? Aw come on it's better than that.

I doubt overall you'll find that many people who think it's better than Far
Cry or Hl2. It's good, but it's short and it suffers from console loads
every 20 metres.

It's good, but not *that* good. It's more like Thief 3 or Deus Ex 2.

> and riddick is selling with a great price, i think below 20 bucks

True, you should pick it up at that price.

Bottom line, it's worth the money.

Darn kids these days can't appreciate anything innovative and that breaks
from the norm. < grumble, grumble >...

Maybe you should play a game before praising it.

I'm in the middle of Riddick right now. It's OK. Better than Doom 3. Not
quite as good as FarCry. Not even close to Half Life 2.

Worth playing, but not a "must play".

I wasn't as impressed by riddick as some, but it's *easily* worth $20.

Apparently Far Cry has such advanced AI and "modability" there should be
heaps coming soon. Google for John Lewis for more details.

please explain me how can i separate when the distribution method forbids
me from playing the actual game!

how many times do i have to say: valve wants a revolution in pc games
distribution and its causing massive amounts of casualties among many
gamers, one of them is me!

gotw has to be UNIVERSAL! and steam is the OPPOSITE of universal!

you know as well as i do that riddick is in many lists the second after
hl2 when it comes to best of 2004
so if hl2 is disqualified cause of steam, who would be the new number
one? is it so difficult to admit riddick is the real gotw!

i haven't bought riddick neither the other two you mention so i can't
talked about specifics, but being short is not a bad thing! its almost
like you saying a movie with 3 hours is always best than a movie with
1.5 hours, so short has nothing to do with quality, and the next thing
you talk about is a consequence of pc games being still dependant on
consoles cause what you talk about is unfortunately present is almost 90%
of pc games released, so please the place to complain about it is to
fight consoles and making pc games the first platform for electronic
games, only this way will pc games be free from "porting" releases and
become a platform where games are created from the start

i feel sorry for not having a powerfull hardware and not having the
cash to buy those 3 games, cause i would make you eat your words!

again... so for you short is bad and cheap is also bad... oh god...
you are just another snobbish steam lover always ready to pay valve big
bucks and spend vast amount of hours worshiping your master playing hl2
endlessly until your brain explodes

but that's what you say! that's your personal opinion!
and how much "value" should i, this group and the original poster give
to your personal opinion?
for me and cause i smell the steam lover stench i would say ZERO!

Actually there are already quite a few extra maps for FarCry online.
Apparently you were just unaware of them.
