Its unfortunate, but I think I have decided im gonna have to sell my new U2711. Im unlucky enough t be one of those that is very sensitive to the AG coating and it just bothers me way to much.

I realize that the dell is the only display with a 1440p resolution and im ok with that (the ACD isnt an option, I need hdmi). I can accept 1080p. My last monitor was a 37" 1080p so anything will have a low pp compare to what im used to. :na: I use my monitor for everything, gaming, web browsing, photo editing, bluray, etc. The two most important things to me are good black levels, and good, vibrant color.

Color accuracy is nice but isn't super important, there are other ways to make sure you have accurate colors in photos, so as long as they aren't totally out of whack its fine. And im the only one using it so as long as the viewing angles aren't abysmal im not to worried about that. Im perfectly fine with either glossy or matte, as long as the ag coating is light.

So, anyone have any suggestions?

All 2560 x 1440 monitors use IPS panels. None are glossy and all have some level of AG. The one exception is the Apple MC007LL. Personally, I prefer NEC monitors so if I were to purchase a monitor it would be the NEC PA271W, it's generally more expensive than the Dell U2711 since Dell generally have sales from time to time on their monitors.

NEC monitors reportedly have a lighter AG coating than Dell monitors. But that is something I cannot confirm.

That's no longer true! There is a great looking PLS monitor called the "S27A850D" by Samsung. It's a 27" LED backlit that runs at 2560 x 1440 60Hz.

I was so impressed by reviews and positive experiences in forums that I have decided to order one tomorrow.

The only thing that has been an issue on this one is terrible backlight bleed present in the first shipments. As far as I know that's not an issue anymore.

If I have no problems I will write up my first impressions of the panel and post em here.

I have a zr2740w, it has more AR coating than the u2711 so don't get that. I think the Samsung Trist suggested has the least so I'd put that up on your list.

Or wait for the Asus VA278Q. It's new this year and due out any time.

hi magicpants

I am very interested in buying a monitor just to play. for example (BF3, Skyrim, other city batman etc.). I had the S27A950D 27 "did not convince me much, unfortunately I had to return it twice a dead pixel at TigerDirect, as T27A750 27" I could not use the 120hz, your can see that eh had several different experiensia in monitors, my question is that your opinion on zr2740w and recommended me, I'm not interested in 3D and 120HZ just want the best monitor for gaming, please make your recommended me for the price not I have no problem, please if you respond as soon as possible to purchase one more. thanks

I have a hard time recommending the zr2740w. It's a really good value, but the super strong AR coating will distract a lot of people, and it ghosts a bit more than it should. It's great for non-twitch games like skyrim and batman, but It's not good for shooters and online fps.

I live in the us thanks, can you tell me what you think of DS-307W, U3011 which is much better for games
