Whats the best CPU air cooler for an I7 8700k

So i'm planing on buying the I7 8700k cpu on the Asus ROG STRIX Z370-F motherboard but i was wondering what the best air cooler would be? for the chip so that i can overclock it.

If anyone can help me, the case that i'm using is the Zalman Z11 PLUS so i don't think the size of the cooler matters to much.
 
Maybe he forgot the take the plastic off the cpu cooler from the base like jay 2 cents from YouTube did with that air cooler... his wasn’t keeping things cool until someone said did you take that stupid plastic off??
 
I'll chime in here.

I've had a 5820K since 2015, and many of you will be aware Haswell-E's were/are notorious CPU's for getting hot AF.

My NH-D15 handles it quite comfortably up to about 4.4 or 4.5GHz OC.

The 8700K is a much cooler CPU, if you're hitting over 70 degrees on an air cooler without an overclock then you've either got a seriously bad CPU or not applied the thermal paste correctly.
 
Joseleonel is the idea that we have been able to find the right thing to say that we have been able to get a chance to see how much is the best deals with a miniature level and then you will need to find the right thing to say that we are normal going to find the right thing for me was that we to find the right thing for me was that we have been able to get a chance to see the best deals with you
 
I came here to look for advice on a cooler and have read through the entire thread. I upgraded to the 8700K from a 3570k and continued to use my 212 EVo air cooler as it has been pretty awesome in the past. Not so great now however but I suspect I am at fault. My idle temps are around 50c and average gaming gets up to 60ish when playing world of warships. When I play FFXV with all graphics at max settings at 1080p temps will break 80 and I've seen as high as 95 when I was streaming while playing WoW and possible had another game running as well, cant remember.

I do suspect that I need to reapply my heat sink as I did jostle it after I had recently applied the paste. Hopefully that will get my temps down but I am considering a water cooler, something I swore off of after my last unit drenched my system. My ambient temps are usually around 74F, my case flow is...probably nonexistent since I took the side panel off since my GTX 1080 was kicking out serious heat which was going up to the CPU (that's what caused the 95C).

Will try to post my results after I re apply my heat sink.
 



While I was building my PC I used an Enermax ETS-T40F-BK with --two-- fans as a temporary cooler for the i7-8700K. That ETS-T40F is pretty similar to a 212 EVO I believe.

I use the stock clocks with Turbo ON and Multicore Enhancement turned OFF. Ambient temperature in my home is around 24.5C (76F, I live in Florida).

My idle temps were in the mid 30s and load would get into the low 80s Celsius on that mid-sized CPU cooler.

Once I installed a Noctua NH-D15 on the i7-8700K idle temps are in the low to mid 30s and load is in the low to mid 70s Celsius.

So going from a mid sized air cooler to a large air cooler dropped about 6C off my load temperatures. In some games, the drop is 10C between the two. It is also much quieter.
 
I think most of the posters here are forgetting something........the 8700K does indeed run hot since the die is NOT soldered onto the IHS therefore causing bad heat transfer in most cases. Those who have posted here with high overclocks probably got lucky with the silicon lottery. I, along with many others, did not get so lucky. At stock clocks the voltage sometimes spikes up to 1.35 and over which causes temperatures to spike up to the high 80's even when not stress testing. Extended stress tests shows max temps of the high 70's and low 80's. This is with a H100i v2 AIO cooler with 2 x Noctua NF-F12 fans. I find that a manual overclock or rather a undervoltage of the CPU will help with temps. At stock speeds the CPU can run stable with about a 1.23 ~ 1.25 Vcore with a decent LLC setting. I followed Derbauer's tutorial on Youtube because i have the same motherboard. But all in all, the 8700K does have a heating issue but I would say that one does not need an AIO in order to cool it at stock speeds or even with a mild overclock.
