[SOLVED] What's the best LGA 1155 CPU?

I have a G2020 and I have only enough money to upgrade my CPU for now (saving up for a high end PC). I was wondering about upgrading to a better CPU in hopes that it won't bottleneck my GTX 750ti. Which processor is the best for an LGA 1155 socket?

The Intel core i7 2600K is the best processor option for the LGA 1555 Socket. Why? Because it can be found a lot cheaper than the i7 2700K or the i7 3770K that is only 5% faster. Note that when it comes to gaming, these are very capable CPU's.

The I7 3770k would be the best cpu you could put in that socket, makes sure you update the bios on the motherboard to the latest before upgrading.

While the best processor is going to be the Intel Core I7-3770k, it still depends on your motherboard and what's compatible with it. Check the CPU Support List on your motherboard's support page.

Your dual core G2020 has a passmark rating of 2760 and a single thread rating of 1544.
Really, not bad at all. The 2 threads will limit your selection of some games and may impact performance.

While the i7-3770K(8 threads, 9531/2064) may be the strongest available, to you, I do not think that is your best option for an interim upgrade. It will cost you $150-$200 used on ebay.

I might suggest a I5-3350P with 4 threads and a 6135/1748 rating which will cost you perhaps $30-$40 on ebay.

I recently bought a Xeon E3-1270 for almost half the price of a 2600K. I had a 2500K prior to that and found that the lack of CPU threads was creating a bottleneck. For the record, my GPU is an RX 480.

Xeons are commonly forgotten about, yet they make good alternatives to the mainstream i5 and i7 ranges.
