Whats the best Mobo & CPU combo for Gaming!

Hi everyone,
I.m looking to buy a mobo and cpu .but i dont know what is the best combo?

Is the amd and mobo with the nforce chipset the best combo for amd!.

Is intel faster for gaming if so what would be the best chipset on the mobo to open up the cpu.

The reason why i ask is that my old asus p4p800 deluxe with the intel chipset on the board just didnt really give my p4 3Gb 800 cpu enough speed to give it the power it needed. The amd 2500+ cpu with the barton dye and epox nforce chipset mobo kicked my asus and p4 's ass with performance fps hands down.

So i am hesitant with buying intel and i am thinking to get amd because of intel's miserable past.

any ideas would be much appreiated

Your choice depends on your budget. I used amd for about 6 years before going back to Intel. Fry's has the amd 5600 with ecs board for $99 this week, along with various other combo deals. On the Intel side, a gentlemen has an e4300 for $55 (used on anandtech's for sale forum) that will outperform the 5600 when overclocked at 3.0. My e4300 has a tiny piece of copper tape the thickness of aluminum foil, which runs it at 1066 (2400 hertz net) overclocked. For $60 it was a bargain. Motherboards are about the same price now, depending on the chipset. The 790gx amd chipset is tops for onboard video; the x48 for Intel without video. Whatever you buy, I would get some ddr2 while it's so cheap. Fry's.com had 2 2gb sticks of patriot pc6400 for $40 after rebate; may still have them. When Intel and amd go with ddr3 next year, expect to pay more.

Depends on your budget. An Athlon 5400BE with an AMD 790GX based motherboard is a good overclocking combo. On the Intel side you also have alot of good P45 boards for clocking and many Wolfdale chips to choose from, with the Pentium E5200 being a good choice for the budget overclocker.

I want to go amd as amd are more better priced. i am looking at the amd am2 6000+ and 6400+ . I think a mobo with the nforce chipset on the board is the best way to go for the amd cpu. What mobo would be best for the 6000+ and 6400+ cpu with the nforce chip. Also i got to put into consideration on the wattage of the cpu so the mobo can take the cpu.

I would look for a 780gx board. With the 6000, you won't have much room to overclock. I wouldn't get any of the 125w cpus; just my personal taste for saving some energy and keeping the heat and fan noise down. The newer 790 boards are too expensive; not worth it.

Just been looking around the net for some mobo's .I live in australia and because of the stock markets ,its imposiblle to order oversea's as the exchange rates are ridiculous.

Im not sure if the xfx nforce 8200 amd mobo would be compatible .The only thing is the amd 6000+ has a wattage of 128watts ,so i dont know if the mobo will handle the load.

What i like about these mobo is the heatpipe heatsink setup on the nforce chipset.

Is there anything i need to know about this mobo so i can understand it behavour and stabiblity . here is the link for the australian buyer

thanks for the info on the 780gx boards. Does anyone know if this board the xfx 8200 sli board will run the amd 6000+ cpu as it does say in the info specs that it supports the Athlon 64 X2 DualCore .I hope the board can power the 125 watts that the 6000+ gives out.

The 8200 board will work fine; it's even newer than the 780gx.

Thanks olDie, for your comment on the 8200 mobo. One question though whats the 8200 mean does it mean that it is higher than the 780 mobo. Is that how they are measured .Also what do you think would be the best ram to get for this mobo and cpu combo.

I want to get the AMD 6000+ am2 with the xfx nforce 8200 mobo SLI .I heard that the timings are better for the AMD cpu's .

Some brandname ram can make a difference in performance ,depending on what cpu and mobo you use.

I have my eye on a 2Gb kingston 800mhz stick . if i can get the same ram stick with the 1333mhz instead I guessing it will be faster than the 800mhz ram stick. has anyone had good results with certain brands other than kingston?
