Athlon 64 3800+, Sempron 3400+. I think it would be better for you to just buy a cheap core2duo next year. It would perform 2x faster than the top model for socket 754.

or you can buy this right now for really cheap

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane 1.9GHz 2 x 512KB L2

The 4000.. Found one at ebay.

Also check this Link and scroll halfway down.

But the 4000 was one of AMD Mobile chioser for laptops. Otherwise the 3700 was the fastest in socket 754 series.

The fastest 754 CPU was the 3700+ Clawhammer at 2.4ghz. You could clock some of them up from there also. A used one will set you back $200.00 though. :(

In the UK, the fastest new processor is a Sempron 3000... I don't know where you're from; or if you're willing to go the used route... but it's what I had to go for.

This was the problem I had about a fortnight ago; my 3200+ Clawhammer just stopped working. I've got the Sempron in my Socket 754 board now, but it's not a good experience.

I'm going to go cheapo C2D - E2140\ASRock AGP\CheapDDR2... the ASRock board will even accept normal DDR. Socket 754 had such a short mainstream lifespan - about 6 months - and so we're screwed, really. There's very few of us S754 users around, and the lack of decent product reflects that.

Sorry mate; but if you're looking for a decent upgrade, forget socket 754.

Damn you AMD!!!

No not really bothered about it really just wanted to get a bit more out of it if i could, not going to keep it much longer maybe just after christmas i dont have any thing i cant do on it yet.
Figured if i could get a cheapish cpu that was better or could be clocked better than my 64 3000+ then i would have a better comp to hand down to the kids.

I had a 3700+ Clawhammer running in a MSI NEO-Platinum MB. It was quite quick for the time. My Opty 170 could chew it up and spit it out. Don't spend your dough on a 754. It's time for an upgrade.
