So I have a 13 years old laptop running XP, it's kinda slowish and Windows XP doesn't have any support nowadays.
So the idea is installing the most recent Windows that laptop can run comfortably.
It has AMD Sempron 3000+ CPU which has 1 core running at 1.8Ghz if I'm not wrong
It has 2GB RAM DDR
It has one of those classic HDDs, so no SSD on it
and I think that's all.

Solution

I'd suggest something like "lubuntu" or "Absolute Linux", which are the most lightweight linux distros I can think of.
As said by other users, Windows will run slow.

Any Windows OS you put on it will be slow, simply because it is a slow laptop. It wasn't great when it was brand new.

I have Win 10 running on a not much newer Toshiba laptop. 2GB RAM, 2.2GHz Celeron CPU.
Slow, because it is/was always slow. Changing it to WIn 7 or 8.1 would still result in a slow laptop.
