They say PSU's goes thru many generations over the rest of components.
Even they are one of the last components people look on their rig.
I have my 750w PSU since 2013 or 2014 I don't remember
What's yours?
Hey there,
That's a good question!
For the most part, I sell my systems on after they've served their use for me (typically gaming). With that said, my Ryzen 1600x system has an EVGA GQ 650w back from 2017 is still going strong 5 years, so it's just hitting warranty expiration. I've not had an issue with it, and I expect to go a while longer!
Depending on the hardware upgrades, some PSU's will easily swap from system to system. Ideally though, you need a good quality gold unit, with quality caps (105c Jap) and with modern topology. There are some good brands, and models, and those same brands may also make poor PSUs. So, if a PSU lasts longer than warranty, it's typically because it's well made.
Some users often try their old PSUs with modern builds, and this can lead to all sorts of instability. I always go with a decent quality unit, with a warranty of 5-10 years and well renowned/reviewed models. Modular/Semi Modular, doesn't really bother me that much. So, my current PSU (TX650M) is another good one.
I've kinda been lucky and never had a PSU fail on me. Whether that's down to luck, or good choices, I don't know
😉
