As in, it's scheduled at a particular time and date, and has a certain number of seats (or players of the same game, for example)

As opposed to just checking to see if anyone's on, or logging into randomly-selected lobbies, there's more opportunity for players who have mutual desire to "meet" each other again to do so (and, conversely, leave groups where one doesn't fit in)

Anyone can Google stuff, but first you have to know the key words to search.

But yeah to find people you would still need discord or a forum or some method to talk to people to make a date.
I'm talking more about modern games where in theory you'd be more likely to find people to play with. Too bad every time I join a Discord, it's either dead as a door from the very start, or people throwing out open "anyone want to play" invitations, but not following through when you reply to said invitations.

And how is people suppose to know where to look?
use your social media and post a date/time
I'm talking about an already organized group that does have scheduled times and dates. I've tried social media invites or responding to.other people's invites, but that doesn't get me anywhere.

Hence wanting to ask this community what keywords I should be using on a search engine to find a scheduled group for something like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (in my case, to see if there are such groups before buying the game)

That's called "clans"

What you want to do, in your case, it create an account on your particular game's forum and check to see if there is a Looking for Group section or better yet, a recruiting section for new players. Established groups aren't likely to be looking for new players. Some might, but more likely, you'll need to hook up with other members and create your own group of regular players.

Yes, I've tried that, but when there are people posting on Looking For Group, no one replies to them, but that doesn't mean they are open to my replying to them when no one else did. I would try different groups or even different games, but it happens no matter what I play or what group I join. Then, out of all the forums that accept new or existing members, none of them have provided suggestions for a "better" group where people who join the group / clan / club actually intend to play the game.

If you're not getting the responses you want from your requests, then it's time to get proactive and start recruiting your own team and start your own group. Look for other players who post in the LFG forums/discord/etc... State you're looking to form a group of regular players and see if anyone replies in kind.

How do you find a Discord or whatever other platform where people are actively looking for players, though? Like what are the key words to screen out the inactive echo chambers where people just send empty LFG posts with no intent of engaging? Cause posting in LFG doesn't necessarily translate to people actually wanting to play.

In my (limited) experience, that is the nature of Discord. Since there are very few other options, that is the best you have to work with. I get it, it's not ideal, but it is was it is. Use it to the best of your ability and hope for the best. Otherwise, do what I did when I was a kid. Go play with the neighbor kids outside! (only kind of kidding).

How do you find a local sport that enough people (adults that is) actually want to play? Assuming that no nearby gym or park hosts any events? Or possibly find some other outdoor activity that accepts new members? Assuming searching on Meetup or simple Google searching hasn't landed you any results but local Facebook groups don't mention anything, what are the key words I'd be searching for? Like if I want to decide which sport(s) to train up on?

Search local athletic groups plus your zip code. Check out your local YM/WCA (if you have one). Take up a trial offer from a local gym and talk to people. Again, be proactive!

Translating that to the gaming environment:
"Search local athletic groups plus your zip code."
"Look up gaming groups of various sites."
You did that,

"Check out your local YM/WCA (if you have one)"
"Check out your games forums for LGF posts"
You did that.

"Take up a trial offer from a local gym and talk to people. Again, be proactive!"
If there's a free trial for the game you want to play then download and install that. Get somewhat proficient with the game and then talk to other players so they know that YOU know what you're doing in game. That might entice them to offer you an invitation. Ask questions about specific scenarios that other players may have come across and they will be more likely to respond.

Finally, as a potential host, these are the challenges you face:

1) You don't own the game.
2) You've never played the game.
3) I don't even know you. How are you a positive addition to my team?

IMO, your best bet is to form your own group from other posters in the LFG pond and tell them you're forming a new, playing group. If you keep running into the same players around the same time, then ask them if they want to be part of a regular group.
