Recently i brought an MSI Nforce 2 mobo for use with my 1.8+ Athlon XP, now ever since then I have never had a successful installation of the mobo drivers. This is what happens, upon reboot after installation, my com would be stuck in the WinXP pro loading screen, safemode doesn't work either, only a 'last working config' managed to get back my OS, which reverts to before my driver installation. So what does this all means? I have only the standard IDE controllers installed, with my harddisks stuck in PIO, I can't play games at all, it'll hang, crash, or lag till i'm forced to restart.

Here are the specs

MSI K7N2 mobo
2 x 120Gig WD Harddisk
512Mb Kingston
256Mb x 2 Crucial
1.8+ Athlon XP

Somebody.. Help

Did you do a fresh install of the OS? Or did you just switch boards and use the same HDD?

Try formatting and reinstalling the OS, you might have better luck that way.

Intel P4 2.4B, MSI 645E Max-U Mobo, 1GB DDR333, ATI R9800PRO 128MB, TT PurePower 420W, SB Live 5.1, Samsung 120GB, Maxtor 120GB, LG DVD+-R/RW, WIN2K PRO SP4

Unfortunatly yes, but still the problem persists, installing any forceware driver will cause a lockup during reboot.

are you using the RAID controller? Or just the SATA in non-RAID mode? Maybe the drivers are forcing it to look for the RAID controller which is disabled or something? Just a thought
