Still playing and enjoying for the most part Control, but I've reached a side mission that is confusing and frustrating. It's called The Enemy Within, a mission that's available after completing A Matter of Time. You start out finding and escorting a Medic, who's encountered an Altered Item that has killed his squad and injured himself.
The confusing part comes in as to whether a rather large gap can be crossed to get to the Altered Item, as Jesse chooses to venture on by herself to confront it after helping the Medic find his crew if you accept the side mission. What's strange is there's a checkpoint and crate at the gap, with a rather sizeable Evade upgrade in it, which allows you to barely cross the gap if you time things just right. I also had to stand on the crate to start the jump from just to keep enough height.
An even bigger part of the confusion is how to reach the bonuses for killing the Altered Item boss called the Anchor, as they are placed in crates way up high on ledges. This is no doubt why many say you need to get the Levitate skill to beat this side mission, or perhaps benefit from beating it.
I have already more than once nearly drained the boss of health completely without using Levitate. The main reason I've not beaten it is the game always crashes before I can finish it off. I guess it's possible if one IS intended to have Levitate to do this mission, it could be crashing due to lacking a player asset, but then why is the Evade upgrade in that crate right where it's useful to cross the gap? My only guess there is perhaps it was originally intended as an achievement, but someone then realized too late that would be moot, as you need Levitate to get the bonuses. So the upgrade got left there by mistake.
