fryhtaning,
I'm pretty sure the load time based on HDD. (I could be wrong) Another thing that I noticed, the load time probably won't go below 1 second (10000ms) even with SSD.

graywolf0,
Are you planing to use alternative display for your laptop? I'm pretty sure you can play it on low setting without a problem. Any idea on the pricing? The reason I'm asking because there might be a better alternative for the same price.

5870 i believe and you can get it in a asus g73 for 1600 bucks with 1tb storage and a blue ray player. battery life on any laptop with that card is 1hr though. give or take a minute or two

found this here first page has a chart highest high score and highest low scores

on high 5870,5970,480 are domination but if you look the faster the cpu higher the score so its not a Gcard only game it takes a peaty good processor to score high.

sucks theirs only one 5970 in there i wish there was one with a 4.0 930 to compare to the 480 with the same cpu.

graywolf0,
Yea, if you gonna get a gaming laptop playing on battery is out of the question. AC full time while playing is a must. Especially with MMORPG lol. You can't really do much in 1hr. That 273/43200 is madness lol.

rogue woopa,
would be nice to see 5970 with 930 test. I know that the benchmark doesn't use SLI/CF but still if you going to compare 5970 with 480 you'll have to put 480 SLI to be similar.

off topic: omgitzfatal,
With some luck I got my Custom Water Cooling parts coming in early. :)

Awesome :D Post a worklog in the homebuilt section, got to show off that watercooling! :sol:

I'll be posting a worklog of my build next weekend.

I got 1502 on low with load time of 25881ms, i was wondering what i should do to improve the score

so far i am thinking either:
CPU: currently running an AMD athlon II x2 at 2.8ghz stock (should i get new one or OC it?)
Graphic: GeForce 9600 GSO 512
Harddrive: WD Caviar Green

I am thinking CPU upgrade will be the best way to improve score, but what should i aim for to get to the 2500-3000 range? (or should i slightly improve both CPU and Graphic? just trying to find the cheapest option)

kick53rv3,

From the look of it you'll probably better off upgrading CPU & GPU. For 2500-3000 range are you aiming for low or high? (I'm assuming low)

Low is pretty much depend on CPU so maybe you can also try to OC your CPU first and see how much it improves.

And for the sake of comparison on an older system. I would assume that you can play fairly ok with this computer.

E6600 @ 3.5GHz
250 GTS stock
8GB RAM
Old 10,000RPM Raptor.
Load Time:12,669

High:1972
Low: 2960

how high should i try to OC that athlon (i heard they are not as good for OC as the intel E series) so i kinda doubt i can OC it to 3.5GHz, im running at 4GB ram... i guess i'll see how high i can get the CPU to go up to before i actually start dropping money into upgrading

kick53rv3,

yea I would say give it a few push and see how far you can go with it before go into upgrading.

Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @2.67
ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
Corsair Dominator 6GB 1600MHz
Windows 7 Home 64bit

High - 1458

Is this a normal score for my pc specs? I feel like it should be performing better...

lol thanks!

weew, I think you should be able to get at least 2k on high. Check your RAM setting. My RAMs are holding my system back. Barely running at 1600 as it should. Also you should also be able to OC the CPU even with stock cooling.

should i get a good cooling fan before OCing it or try OC with stock? also if i want to plug in another graphic card should i just buy another Geforce 9600 and crossfire(?) it? or buy a cheap 1 GB card? (sorry im not very sure about any of these new technology, not quite sure how using 2 graphic card works)

Try OCing with what you have now. As for another 9600 (SLI) you might be better off getting a new generation card. Probably a single GPU card is best for now.

9600 with a good CPU/MHz would probably score in the range of 1000-1500 on High.
Newer card compared to 9600 like GTX 260 again with good CPU/MHz can get 2300-2500+ on High.

Those score should be a fair indication that you can run FFXIV ok for mid-low high setting.

Again don't take my words for it because I haven't got a chance to test the Beta ;__;
The statistic are based on other people results. Toss me a PM if you have other questions so we don't go off topic =)
