Just stumbled across this thread - so, answering as if I was simply replying to the subject line....

70s and 80s era rock and metal.

Stumbled into two obscure songs recently:
Tank - Echoes of a Distant Battle
Fortress - Metal Meltdown, and Headed For Nowhere (the high notes this guy can hit are pretty impressive)

Some that I do at Karaoke (apparently well, judging by the lack of food/drinks thrown at me):
  • Anthrax
    • Metal Thrashing Mad (I always warn them to keep the laughter to under 30 seconds before calling 911 if I have a stroke while doing this song)
  • Deep Purple
    • Highway Star
  • Guns N Roses
    • Welcome to the Jungle
    • Mr. Brownstone
  • Queensryche
    • Queen of the Reich (I ususally regret this by the time I'm done singing it)
    • Take Hold of the Flame (only tried it once)
  • Whitesnake
    • Fool for Your Loving
    • Slide It In
    • Slow an' Easy
  • AC/DC
    • Dirty Deeds
    • Long Way to the Top
    • TNT
  • Judas Priest
    • Hell Bent for Leather
    • Delivering the Goods
A number of others I can't think of at the moment

And on occasion, I'll mess with people's heads, given they have certain expectations of what I sing:
  • Dead or Alive
    • You Spin Me
  • Benny Bell
    • Shaving Cream
  • Devo
    • Whip It

What is this? A radio channel that actually plays good music instead of repeating that same Ed Sheeran
song on an hourly basis?

Good... that song would be one of about 5 good songs the station plays, the remainder being modern garbage or all the music I hated in the 90's. And they seem to have the same songs on the same days... it got to stage I would wear in ear headphones and have music playing through one ear, to try to drown it out and not make me want to hurt someone. My boss doesn't appreciate it if I use both ear pieces at same time, she wants me to be able to hear her. Last time I was in there, they had swapped channels so I hope its like that in future.

Classical would beat 90's pop music. Everything beats it really.

Ugg. I had the flu a couple of years ago. Stupid how you pay for a flu shot every year when they might not even work.
Yea unfortunately it's a continuously changing virus so it's difficult to vaccinate for it although with the shot it should reduce the effects a bit. The hospital hasn't even offered it to us yet.

Anyways back to music.

Years ago I was heading to Hampton Beach, NH and got lost. Ended up at a truckstop off of 391 and approached someone to ask them for directions. It turned out to be Les Claypool (Bassist/Singer for Primus), they were on tour in Worcester which is why he ended up in the area but he was super nice and gave clear directions. It was early in the morning and I was exhausted so I forgot to ask for an autograph and it was so long ago that I didn't have a cell phone for a picture. Still a cool experience.

If you have Prime Amazon is giving free 3 month trials to their new High Res Audio service.

https://www.amazon.com/music/unlimited/hd

I've used Tidal's Master service for years and this is $7 a month cheaper so I'm going to try it out.
Please tell us what it's like. I'm personally somewhat against Amazon due to how bad their services are outside of the few big countries.
You'd think making a web based streaming service available to more than 4 countries wouldn't be that hard of a task to a multi billion dollar company.
I guess i can't force them to take my money... which will keep going to Tidal.

It's excellent so far. I like Tidal's interface better but sound quality is spectacular. You should do the free trial and compare for yourself.

I just signed up. Seem nice.

I wanted to test a song I love that also came out this year so audio quality should be good.
I didn't notice a massive step up from youtube audio quality, but the lows do seem more pronounced and everything it a tiny, tiny bit cleared.

To me, even the 160kb/s Spotify offers for free is a massive upgrade over Youtube audio.
Youtube audio just sounds wrong when compared to any real streaming service, let alone one that offers lossless audio.
