Discussion What's your MOST favorite MUSIC GENRE ? **currently playing song on your device** ?

Hi all,

First off, I apologize if a similar thread/topic has already been created before, though I couldn't find one while searching the forums, so that's why I just want to create a NEW Topic. A fresh one.

As per Off-topic forum rules, I would very much like to start this new thread, based solely on MUSIC. I hope this is OK ?

MUSIC is what makes me keep alive each day, and I really can't live without it. So you too can post your favorite song, band, and the kind of Music you usually listen to, if you wish.

Which SONG, or MUSIC do you mostly like to listen ? It can be just anything. It can be the latest song being played on your current gadget, or the song/music you mostly love to hear, when you get time. Just anything, even your favorite Game/movie soundtrack !

As a MUSICIAN myself I appreciate all music genres.

My friends, and myself as a BAND, we are mostly into ROCK and METAL (extreme), but I appreciate all genres of MUSIC, be it POP, Classical, Jazz, BLUES, Country, Folk etc. Anyways, I really appreciate good/clean music, be it any genre. So kindly allow me to start:

Guardian Angel
, by Yngwie Malmsteen. Genre: Neo-classical metal, Instrumental Rock. This song is pure BLISS ! Yngwie is a Guitar/shredding GOD.

Here I Go Again, by Whitesnake. Genre: PURE Heavy Metal, Rock, Hard/Glam Rock.

I really love this Norwegian band, SIRENIA. Genre: Symphonic/Gothic Metal. "Morten Veland" is a true Norwegian musician !

My favourite genres are generally most forms of metal, and classical tenor. I do often avoid most pop / RnB and rap music.

Killswitch Engage is my favourite band - and Jesse Leach is literally my hero.

And Andrea Bocelli has the voice of an angel.

However I have recently gotten into Fit for a King and they have just released an incredible album:

This is a good number though. He is a great Italian opera singer. Btw, yes even I don't like RAP, Hip hop, either. Not my cup of tea....
Considering nearly all I attend for most of my life is metal gigs, I had the privilege of travelling to Poland earlier this year to watch Andrea Bocelli and he was absolutely stunning.

Not the most appropriate place to headbang one has to say...

BTW, I have slightly changed this Topic's title heading, because this sounds more appropriate to me , currently playing song on your device, so that this thread can continuously get some updates ?

Old school metalhead. I saw Metallica for the first time in 89 on the Justice tour. But I've mellowed a bit over the years. Not that I don't break out the Slayer every now and then. :)

Having audiophile grade headphones has also really broadened what I listen to as well. I've had a decent home stereo since I was a kid. It was one of the first things I bought when I got a job in high school but headphones take detail to a new level. I've been listening to a lot of trance lately. Both the TH-X00s are basically audiophile grade bass cannons and they really make it fun. I also really love good female vocals. Probably my top two artists of the last 5 years are Lana Del Rey and London Grammar. Oh and I just discovered Floor Jansen and Nightwish. Amazing stuff.

This is outdated now but early last year I reripped my ~450 CD collection to FLAC to replace the mishmash of MP3s I'd done over the years previously.

Where there's just an artist name there's multiple albums. Like here:

I've probably added 50 CDs since that was taken. I also subscribe to Tidal's Masters service.

Overall, amongst too many choices, listen to anything by "Two Steps from Hell".

I must say, that American production music company is talented. You have a great musical taste. I was just going through some of their YT videos, and the trailer/movie music is really touching to the heart. !

That's an awesome collection, to be very honest. You have a varied taste, just like me......Quiet Riot, Mother Love bone, Overkill, OZZY,, Alice in chains, and the list goes on.....

So, till now I'm aware of 3 MODS who are into METAL/Rock, @anort3, @Dark Lord of Tech, @Darkbreeze. Nice....

:)

I really listen to anything really.

I was have been listening to a lot of linkin park and Mark morton - Cross off with Chester Bennington. The last song with Chester in it to my knowledge since it was released this year.

I also have been listening to some newer EDM songs on trap nation just to enjoy some bass.

Ocassionally i'll listen to some 80s music. Phill collins, genesis, journey etc.

A friend of mine showed me a band and song i had never heard of called Rival Sons - Too bad. Kind of a jazzy rock song and i really like it. I

I don't know if you've heard Nightwish but I love watching people react to that video. There's about 1000 of them on youtube. :p

That STEVE VAI number has been my favorite tracks from him, since he left Whitesnake, and went solo. Though, I prefer this VIDEO as posted below, same song. It has all that passion/emotion and nirvana feeling to it. One of best from Steve, featuring impressive pitch bends, legato, and sweep picking.

BTW, I'm not a huge fan of Nightwish, but some of their tracks are good. Great operatic voice, and TARJA TURUNEN looks beautiful as well !!

That's Floor Jansen. Nightwish's 3rd singer. She's the best by just about any way you'd compare them.

I saw the G3 tour in Atlanta at The Fox Theater in 1997. Joe Satraini, Steve Vai and Kenny Wayne Shepard. It was pretty amazing especially in that small venue.

Linkin Park had a unique sound when they were starting out. I liked them a lot and kept up through Meteora and the Jay Z collaborations but I haven't really heard anything newer than that. I mean maybe I've heard a song or two but I couldn't name them. Those first 3 or 4 albums were great though.

Linkin parks newer albums got more alternative rock (like the song linked above) and then popish.

I love the newer alt rock songs, but most dont. I dont care much for their pop songs. The older songs had more emotion and sounded just better.

I also have been listening to five finger death punch and 3 days grace recently.
