I agree with you,
If someone wants the best benchmarks out there, and wants to buy all the hardware to get the best for benchmarking, then that is great. The only point I really made, not trying to make a I7 look like a waste of money, because for some its not a waste of money, to show how wrong the statement made by him is, "With Dx11 and new cards coming out, I7s will be mandatory." That is a very bold statement , since you have Phenom II's, I5's coming out very soon, higher end C2Q's, all of which really are not that far behind the I7 in gaming if at all. That statement he made is pure BS, that was my point, not to make a I7 build look like a bad choice. For some there are better choices then I7 for gaming rigs.
There was another thread on here, something about I'm building a $10,000 dollars Rig, for real, no joke.
I find one of the posters response to the OP to be a very good one. Why build a $10000 gaming rig, when you can build a $5000 dollar one today that will be cutting edge, and in 2 or three years, build another rig that will be just as cutting edge and more, compared to your one $10000 dollar rig that will be not so cutting edge in a few years.
