Using the 1.4 patch from Bethesda the version number
displayed during game play is a 1.3.1029.

Is this okay or do I have a bad patch?

Also, what version number will I expect to see if I install
Blood Moon?

Many thanks or your assist.

Looking in my readme file for Morrowind, the latest Tribunal patch is
'VERSION 1.4.1313'. 'VERSION 1.3.1029' was an older Tribunal patch; it's
not even listed on Bethesda's web site anymore.

Did you download the patch from Bethesda's web site, or somewhere else? If
somewhere else, try getting it from Bethesda's site:
<http://www.elderscrolls.com/index.php>, in the downloads section.

Here's a link directly to the file on Bethesda's web site:
<http://www.bethsoft.com/downloads/patches/tribunal_v1.4.1313.exe>. Is that
file name the same as the one you downloaded?

And if that's where you got the patch, hmmm... Not sure what happened.

If that is what you downloaded, I'd suggest reinstalling the patch again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

For Bloodmoon, with the latest patch installed, the version displayed in the
game is '1.6.1820'. Don't know if it's the same for the Game of the Year
edition; I bought the individual expansions and then patched that.

Two tips:

1. Install Bloodmoon _after_ Tribunal; don't install Tribunal after
Bloodmoon.

2. Once you install Bloodmoon, only install the _Bloodmoon_ patch. Do NOT
install a Tribunal or Morrowind patch over Bloodmoon, or you'll need to
reinstall the game.

Did a d/l from the same url and still get the display 1.3.11029.

When installing this patch there are the following warnings:

Patch warning Missing or invalid registry/INI key (and I hit OK)
Old File does not exist (and I hit OK)

"Then I get a Tribunal has been patched"
I am TOTALLY confused.

Please assist these old bones.

Oldun expounded thusly :

If you're installing to Tribunal, install MW, Trib, Trib Patch. In that
order. No MW patch.

If you're installing to BM, install MW, Trib, BM, BM patch. No earlier
patches.

If you've installed intermediate patches, you probably don't have to
uninstall, though it wouldn't hurt, just reinstall over what you have,
in the correct order.

Note: I am not one of the gurus at figuring out installation problems!

To me, those errors sound like there's something messed up in your game
installation: wrong version of a file, incorrect entry in the registry, or
something like that. End result the patch program can't update the game
properly, and you're left with the older version.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

My first suggestion would be to try doing a 'repair' of your Morrowind
installation.

1. Backup your saved games and any installed mods first, just in case.
This shouldn't hurt your saves, etc. but better to be safe.

2. Start the game, then choose the 'Uninstall' option on the very first
menu. This will NOT automatically uninstall the game! (I was nervous the
first time I tried that option.)

3. The 'InstallShield Wizard will run for a second, then you'll see a pane
with three choices: Modify, Repair, and Remove.

4. Choose 'Repair' and follow the prompts.

That might be enough to fix the problem; try reinstalling the patch again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If that doesn't work, then my only other idea would be to uninstall and
reinstall the game to see if that fixes whatever is wrong.

Sorry... :(

Remember to back up saved games and mods first.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If my ideas don't work and you don't get any good ideas here, there are some
more knowledgeable people in the 'Hardware and Software Issues Forum' on
Bethesda's TES web site,
<http://www.elderscrolls.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php>. If you haven't
registered, you'll need to create a login before posting.

Note: those forums are slow; the servers seem overwhelmed. It may take a
minute or two for forum pages to open up.

You could also check out the Support section of Bethesda's main web site, at
<http://support.bethsoft.com/>. Look under 'Tribunal', on the drop down
list; that has some suggestions for troubleshooting installation and
patching problems.

Yes, took your advice and not only uninstalled all three, but cleared
registry of all instances I could find.

Then reinstalled all three (I have the individual games from the day
each came out) and all is well, except for the oddity:
Game shows a different version then 1.6 +++ but, Bloodmoon
indicates 1,6++.
So what the hell [shrug]. Game is running really well.

I thank you for you time and effort on my behalf.

Each patch contains information of earlier patches, that are being
replaced. Sometimes these version inos
will show instead of the current ones.
The patches so far (european - and probably us ones too) are
1.1 and 1.2 Morrowind
1.4 Tribunal
1.6 Bloodmoon
