Every spec in technology will be renewed once in 5 years. In a 10 years period of PC spec that we use will become obsolete compared to latest invention technology of computer. As long the job done in a very good performance, your PC is categorized as working. If you just using your PC for office work including surfing internet, it should be fine although 10 years after.
But if you a gamers, heavy software user like autocad, music, graphic, then you should aware for information to the latest technology PC spec every 5 years as this field required the latest and up-to-date system for tools in working interm of performance.
Let says you bought a PC in 2016/2017, then you should upgrade any component in the PC like ram or CPU to be more faster/performance. As long as motherboard working it should be fine to support CPU and ram. Water cooler is ok if you not change it in 5 years more to come on 2021/2022 because it just cooling purpose. In 5 years, you should take note on PSU(power supply unit) and ram for corruption. Good cooling system then your CPU and motherboard is good.
In the next 10 years, your motherboard will become obsolete because USB port version 3.1 will be upgraded, CPU will become slower in term of Ghz, power supply will become more unusable in terms of volt drop down(the more you use power supply versus time, the more it will drop. 650Watts +- gold/bronze/copper + will capacitor usage efficeint. THis will drop down to almost 440 watts or 350watts in the next 10 years). Monitor should upgrade.
My suggestion in the next 5 years, your spec is good in performance and dont upgrade it unless if you want change to AMD. If you want to change to AMD, you must change your motherboard as well for compatibility. AMD for gaming user and heavy duty software.
Hope this answered your question.
Have a good day!
