When will there be LCD monitors larger than 30 inches?

I looked all over the net using Google search and could not come across any info. The current champ is 30" 2560x1600(WQXGA) anyone hear of 3200x2000(WQSXGA) and 3840x2400(WQUXGA)? Those monitors would probably come in sizes of 32", 36", 40" and even larger with native resolutions of 2560x1600 for the 32". The 36" could have 3200x2000 and the 40" plus sizes sporting the full 3840x2400

I wonder how big a monitor one can have before it becomes too big. My dad says 24" to 27" is the biggest before you have to move your head side to side to scan the image or sit way back. And sitting back makes it hard to reach the keyboard to type. I say you can go as large as 40" before it becomes too big, but I wouldn't be surprised if even 50" is doable if you don't mind sitting 3-5 feet back and scanning with your head. There are people with LCD TV's of 37", 42", even 47" being used as 1920x1080 giant monitors!

Thus it would be logical to market giant monitors, the technology is already there! 36" 3200x2000 LCD monitors, anyone? They would be great for gaming and graphics!

i think your dad's right i have a 22" and its got enough real estate to launch more programs than i can look at.

The biggest monitors Newegg has is 57" far as screen sizes go:

Overall, 30" monitors are the biggest as of right now far as resolution is concerned.

LCD panels come way bigger than 30"
Ive got a 40 something " lcd tv, but technically that aint a 'monitor' is it.

The joy of a 30" monitor is you dont need it super close to get great detail AND area. The further away it is the better for ur eyes

It really depends on who's going to buy it as well.

There isn't really a big market for the biggest monitors out there because prices are also high.

I have a 27.5" monitor and it's already pretty damn huge.

I have a 30" and the issue is that content tends to be far away from the tool bar because there is a lot of blank white space.

So, it's really only beneficial if you use programs that take up a lot of resolution with various toolbars such as an IDE, Flash, Photoshop etc. I don't like using browsers, word, email, etc. full screen, it just doesn't work for me. However, those programs go on the two side 20" side monitors.

I can't stress how unfortunate it would be to have a 30" monitor if you only used programs that can do nothing with the whitespace. You just create a lot of extra mousing for yourself.

i personally like a 20" lcd monitor. i mean seriously, do you need any higher resolution than 1680x1050? unless you're doing like 100 different things all at once, it's kind of a waste to get a huge monitor. i wish i could use the 30" my dad has at work though.....

I'd love to have at least a 24" for blu ray movies. As for using the extra space? Of course you can. Games look amazing too. 30" may be a bit much for some people, but I think a 24" at 1920x1200 is perfectly usable.

Nah, I don't feel like spending around $4,000+ for the 55" Samsung LN55A950 which is the next step up. 55" is probably a bit too big for my small apartment anyway.

Use the new 150" panel and you can prettend it's the sliding door to your balcony, and your apartment is in Paris one night, Sidney the next and then Bermuda the night after that.

its res is 1366x768

but its a monitor. not a tv. a monitor.

Can you tell me if you were able to run native res on your PC? Did you settle for 1360x768 with black bars?

If you want a huge monitor, why don't you use a big flat panel tv? Ive seen it work before..

A display larger than 30" with a resolution of 1920x1080 or less is just a TV. I'm looking for a computer display larger than 30" with a resolution of no less than 2560x1600, preferably higher.
