ugh way to support the scalpers by listing their 2 most commonly used websites to sell TH. I started offering the MSRP of the particular card on ebay sales that have the "or best offer" option on just for fun.

I've been on EVGA's customer wait list for exactly 1 month as of tomorrow. I'll tell you what, Jensen wasn't kidding about no availability until 2021. I get that people are splitting hairs on "well, there were a few available, so it's not a paper launch", but if 90% of the people who want them can't get them, that is a supply/demand problem. I typically only run Nvidia graphics cards because I always found the drivers to be a little more refined. I might switch over to Navi depending on how the performance stacks up. And, of course, how their availability stacks up :)

IM not a Bot and managed getting a 3080 from a retail store the day they launched.
Is that so? Then answer me this:
While walking along in desert sand, you suddenly look down and see a tortoise crawling toward you. You reach down and flip it over onto its back. The tortoise lies there, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs, trying to turn itself over, but it cannot do so without your help. You are not helping. Why?

I am honestly confused at Toms, as well as others that do reviews of computer hardware. None have done a full and proper review of the RTX 30 series GPUs, with all the technology that is in the cards. So many people have posted in so many forums, asking about details on these cards, such as the HDMI 2.1, Variable Refresh Rate, and the other new technology that NVidia has been advertising in these new cars.
It's next to impossible for people to buy the cards. And it's next to impossible to get any information on these things since the people that do have the cards won't share the information.

Just got mine today! I bought my 3080 from this site. They might be sold out by the time you guys read this. www.gpunation.com

Good luck !
So -- THANKS! I just got a 3090 from that site (assuming they fill the order -- they said they had 1 left and accepted my order). If this works you saved me $$$ (the only other place I could find had it a LOT higher). BTW, guys, some of us need 24GB AND the speed, if we are doing 3D graphics. This is the only card that can do those things, so suggesting lesser cards isn't helpful.

@Kelleytoons let us know how it turns out! I'm very tempted, but skeptical for all the obvious reasons, and to add to it:
  • @samplecoder created his account on November 4th only to post that message
  • the domain gpunation.com was only just registered on November 3rd
On the other hand, all the 3090s are sold-out, not even 1 available; if it's a scam, I'd expect at least one to say "1 available".

Good bit o' detective work there....I'd have to agree with your conclusions.

They had only 1 available (it said it was the last of the 4 they had) when I ordered it and then that 1 "disappeared" as soon as my order was approved and credit card charged. Now -- that was last week and it hasn't arrived yet (and my gut tells me it hasn't even shipped). The guy (I assume it's only one guy) did call me the day after my order went through to verify my shipping address -- the card had already been charged so there was no need for him to call me then). So far up to that point it seemed, if a scam, not a very good one (why wouldn't he list as many as he wanted to list? Why not a dozen, or a hundred?)

If I had to guess - to make an intelligent SWAG - I'd say this is a guy who might be going to get some of these cards himself and set up the domain, phone number (it's a real phone number as I've called it, but only been able to leave a message) and is hoping to make a profit from it. OTOH, it may very well be a scam (again, it's not a very good one as I'll get my money back AND he'll most likely be tracked down -- he's in Atlanta, Georgia so it's not like he's even out of the country).

But I'll keep everyone posted here.

Because if he lists a hundred available, then you don't believe him when he calls you to tell you that "one card left" is gone.

I believe your surmise is correct, in that he had none then, he has none now, and he's simply hoping to get a few, then sell them to already-charged cards at a profit. That's still a scam, though.

Yeah I saw that guys post and clicked it, and got all sorts of warnings from my works firewall. I'd be wary.

Well, I just got a notice saying it was shipping and with the right tracking info, so we'll see. Look -- even if this "operation" is some guy trying to make a buck out of his garage, I have no problem supporting it. We all have to start somewhere, and if you told me 50 years ago some folks making computers in their garage would be billionaires today I'd say you were crazy.

However, as to the number available and then none available -- that isn't a scam anymore than Best Buy saying they had some and then got sold out is. Anyone can get sold out of something. Truly, if this really were a scam he wouldn't have a limit at all. The worst this could possibly be is some entrepreneur trying to leverage the scarcity of these into a few bucks for himself (hell, his prices aren't even jacked up). Now, in a few days (all it will take as he's located only a day or so away from me) I get something that is NOT a 3090 I'll write back here and let you guys know.

"Cancel scalper orders"
Don't let yourselves be duped by this socialist thinking. These mythical "scalpers" are doing a great job for the consumers. At least you can buy a 3080 from them when you really need it - paying a premium - otherwise it would be completely impossible.
It's a fallacy to think that if not for the "scalpers", the 3080s would be freely available. It's only because there is a shortage already, "scalpers" can make money on it, and serve the customers.
If the western world wasn't so dominated by socialists, nVidia itself would have priced the 3080 correctly, i.e. to maintain supply/demand parity. Any 101 economist will tell you they are way too cheap now - that's why you can't buy them. But nVidia is too scared of the leftie crowd, i.e. most of the population these days. What lefties do not understand is that you can't cheat the laws of economy - instead of buying 3080 at $999 (my guess at the correct price), you can't buy it at all. Trust me on all the above - I've been there before, I come from a formerly socialist country in Eastern Europe and experienced all of this first hand, only for all the goods, not just for some GPUs.
And please don't call these guys "scalpers". Entrepreneurs would be a better word. Thanks to people like them, the western democracies still somehow creak along. It might soon end, though. You see what's the public opinion on the matter. Instead of praising them, you hate them. Scary stuff...
The last major capitalist country on Earth these days is China. Everywhere else we have nearly Soviet-era level of centrally managed economy. That's why China is growing at 10% per year, and we are basically stuck at 0% growth. And soon to be declining, if we don't get the socialists out.

Guys can you make the same thing for SFF pc's ? I found asus pn50 with 4800u and asrock mars with same cpu that I can literally mount behind my TV and still wall mount the TV to wall. Its something game worthy that will allow me to have no cables visible (I have 2 power outlets on wall behind tv already) I just cannot find them available. I even ordered one and it's got refunded....

So now we're socialists if we don't like scalpers. You need to put the crack pipe down Mr. Scalper. Anyone with any common sense knows exactly what you are.

Scalping is going to happen. It doesn't make capitalism bad. It simply means there will always be scum of the earth types ready to take advantage of their neighbors at every opportunity. So take your straw man argument elsewhere.

Scalpers create nothing. They offer no service. They bring nothing but greed to the table. Scalpers are leeches. Nothing more, possibly less.

I wouldn't buy any product from any scalper at any cost. Principles do still exist regardless how much the scum want to pretend they don't.

Except to those who need the product the scalper has. [/quote]

No, just misinformed.

Scalping always exists when supply doesn't meet demand. Always. The real culprit here is NVidia et. al., who knows they can't meet demand, yet refuses to raise prices to their proper level. If NVidia increased MSRP by even a quarter of the surcharge these scalpers are charging, that would not only lower demand, but the extra margin would allow NVidia to increase supply as well, if only slightly.

You mean the product the scalper has because he's scalping? LOL You have got to be joking.

Yes, it always exists, I already said that. So are you trying to build another strawman? Or is your argument simply that since Nvidia has helped create the situation that makes scalping 'ok'?

Let me put this real simple for you... other people doing crappy things doesn't make the crappy things we do any less crappy. Although I know this is something the morally bankrupt rely on, you know... "hey, look at him, he did something worse! So stop paying attention to what I'm doing." It's sad and more than a little pathetic.

People see scalpers for what they are, modern day online grifters. At least be man enough to own it.
