becuase thats all my motherboard can take, it cant take the newer processors and cant be bothered upgrading my motherboard, plus the 1st generation processors are still good for now.

Well then no one is selling one, get an i7 860 or 870 instead and overclock it. That is the only difference.

isnt overclocking dangerous and reduces CPU life? just what someone has told me...

Its not worth the money or the effort, a new board will cost you like 80$ for a B85 chipset. Do not spend money on old tech.

Not really in the amount we are talking about. Since we are only talking about a few hundred Mhz. And anyway, the performance difference between the CPU's is minimal even if you don't overclock.
