I have the Kraken x61 but I've seen multiple threads saying different headers that the cpu fan should be connected to. I've narrowed it down to CPU_FAN or W_PUMP. Which of these should the fan/pump be connected to?

You must populate the CPU_Fan, or you'll likely have boot issues (or overheating issues - it won't know there's a fan connected, or that it's connected to the CPU).

I haven''t used a Kraken x61 myself, but if there is only one connector - connect to CPU_Fan. Most AIO liquid coolers have one connector (sometimes a second fan & second connector, so then you would use either CPU_Opt, CPU_2 etc - I would assume that's what is named W_Pump on your board).

The X61 uses a 3pin header lead that connects to the cpu_fan header. This solves the issue of boot errors when nothing populates the header. It also provides the tach for the pump. However, the X61 actually gets its power from the sata connector from the psu, not the cpu_fan header. Control, via CAB software comes from the usb connection. Its a good cooler, mine is great and the CAB software is much better than that offered by Corsair Link.
