Out of these graphics cards which would be the best for gaming?

Radeon R7 370 (4gb)
Radeon R9 380 (2gb)
EVGA GeForce GTX 960 Superclocked (2gb) or other brand

The R9 seems to have much more "stuff" (more shader, better floating point operations etc) going for it over the R7 but the R7 has 4gb of memory. The 2gb gtx 960 has a higer clock speed and all that but less "stuff" than the R9.

How important is the graphics memory to gaming and which would be the best pick?

Thanks

the memory only matters inasmuch as it determines the ability to drive larger monitors. What resolution and how many monitors to you plan to have?

I don't usually choose my GPU like you do - I look for a performance level, and then look for a larger memory model within that range.

Up to now I've been a AMD GPU user - mainly because of price/performance, but my most recent video card is the MSI R9750 Twin Frozer based on the AMD HD 7950. With things the way they are now, I really will struggle to use price/performance to buy the next GPU as an AMD model. I think they've kind of lost the ball and all the stuff that came out since the HD series are not as capable as Nvidia's models.

That said, I don't think that a 2GB card is a good, safe investment. I'd not go for less than 3 or 4GB VRAM.

So choose from this list:

Surely you mean the R9 380?

I live in Australia and I cannot seem to find a 3gb card anywhere they seem rare as is. My monitor has a resolution of 1360x768 @ 60hz and is actually a tv I think it is 40 inches or something but I don't really know. Medium sized lcd.

A 2GB card will do you just fine. :)

No, why do you think I meant something other than what I said? It's an older card, maybe 2 years old now.

There is no R9 7950, the HD7950 is now the R9 380.
