Which controller do you think?

I'm willing to buy a controller for my pc, but i'm in a serious dilemma between the Logitech F310 and the Dualshock 4, if anyone has already tried one of these could tell me his honest opinion, I would really appreciate it. Thanks again
PS: I'm avoiding the F710 because it has connectivity issues based on many reviews. Also avoiding the xbox controllers because of the funny button placement.

Well if you were familiar with the xbox, you wouldn't say funny button placement, so I am assuming you never played with the xbox. Personally I would use the Logitech F310, but that is just my opinion and not based on any facts, just based on my preference.

Just like Nerdy Nerd, my preference is the Dualshock 4. It was made for gamers, and it is very similar to the number one controller sold in the world...the PS2. I love it, and the only reason I haven't paired it is because of Bluetooth and I don't want wires.

Yes I'm definitely not familiar with the xbox, so I assume I'm gonna go for the PS4 controller, thanks for your replies guys.

The Xbox controller is much more widely supported in PC games. You can use the DS4 controller to emulate the Xbox controller with this program for games without DS4 support, but it's still a little kludgy.

Haven't tried the Logitech controller. I used the DS4 for a while, then dumped it in favor of the Steam controller. After gaming with mouse and keyboard for 20+ years, the DS4/Xbox controllers were a huge step backwards because the joysticks have very limited resolution (-127 to +127 in both axes). This is acceptable when you're using the stick to give velocity inputs (running, aircraft pitch up/down). But it absolutely sucks for precise position inputs (aiming).

Basically there's no way for the joystick to map to every position on a 360p image, much less a 1080p image. So instead, game makers use a kludgy velocity aiming system. You push the joystick to move the aim point. The more you push, the faster the aim point moves (velocity). You let go when you're aimed at the correct point. Console gamers are probably used to this because it's all they've ever known. But it's absolutely horrible if you're used to mouse-based position aiming (move mouse to correct aim point and you're done).

The Steam controller solves this by using a trackpad in place of the right joystick. This has much finer position resolution than a joystick, allowing you to use it for position aiming instead of velocity aiming. It's like using a trackball to aim (and in fact the default behavior is to emulate a trackball).

The downsides are the controller is closely tied to Steam and getting it to work in non-Steam games can be finicky. And because it's not widely used you may have to do a lot of configuration to get it to behave as you want inside a particular game. Also, the dimensions are a little different from other controllers (the handles are chunkier) so it my not fit your hand well - make sure you buy it from a store with a good return policy. And the ABXY placement is different, putting the most-used button (A) furthest from your thumb instead of closest. They tried to compensate for it by giving you an extra paddle button on the bottom which by default maps to A, but your natural reaction is to mash A with your thumb, not to grip with your pinky and ring finger.

I like how the Steam controller functions best. But I do admit I like the button/stick placement on the DS4 better. And the DS4 feels better in your hands.
