Question Which cpu for 4k gaming?

I just bought a 2080 ti and all my games are running pretty well at 4k but one thing I've noticed is my cpu is barely being touched. I have a i7 6700
what do I need to make the most out of my card for strictly 4k gaming?

At 4K the cpu load won’t be that high because the FPS won’t be high. There is nothing wrong with low cpu usage.

At 4K resolution you will be almost entirely GPU limited even with the 2080Ti. As such there is basically no benefit in upgrading over an i7 6700 just for gaming at that resolution. The 6700 is still quite fast for gaming even if you were running a lower resolution monitor with high refresh rate eg. 1440p 144Hz and you probably wouldn't see huge gains with a CPU upgrade in that use case either, likely not enough to really justify a new motherboard and CPU.

Thanks just what I wanted to hear my 10 year old transonic 5.1 sound system is begging for an upgrade.
