Which CPU should I choose for my gaming pc?

Hey, I'm building a mid range gaming computer and I was wondering what CPU I should get.I plan on using a gtx760, but I don't want to overclock.The one I was thinking about getting was the Intel Core I5-3750 Ivy bridge?Can you give me some recommendations for other CPU's for less or is this one good?I would like to save a little money but I need an Ivy Bridge CPUAlso, this is my first time building a pc so I don't want anything that is too complicated to set up.I want to stick to intel. Thanks.

The 2 choices that you have at what seems to be your budget are :
FX-8350
i5-4670

My pick would personally go on the i5-4670, but if you're a bit tight on the budget, the FX-8350 is really good too.

Since you said no overclocking, you could save another $20 or so by stepping down a few notches. At my local stores, the i5-3470 has the lowest $/GHz and would be plenty fast for most foreseeable gaming needs.

On the motherboard side, you can usually save $20-40 by choosing a h77 board (I'm using an Asus P8H77-M and the only issue I have with it is it only has one 3-pin fan header) instead of z77-based models.

If you want Intel then there only offering for an i5 at the 200 mark that is worth getting is a 4430 or 3330. Both of which are 189 bucks. Then your looking at about 100-120 bucks for a decent motherboard.

If your really strapped for cash you could get an FX-8320 and a 100 dollar ASrock board and save about 40-60 bucks and get similar performance. All up to you man but those are really your options for your budget. Also why a GTX 760? The 7950 is faster and cost like 30 bucks less.

If you are not going to overclock, then a locked Haswell i5 would probably make sense for you. I am going to be honest though, overclocking is insanely easy on the k series CPU's. A 3570k with an Asrock Z77 Extreme4 will do 4.0 easily with just a multiplier bump and not changing a thing to the other settings. Actually I am running 4.3 on mine currently with just a multiplier bump. It isn't complicated at all. In all my years of overclocking, never came across such an easy chip to OC as this one.

Ok, If its socket 1155 then go with the 3470 or 3330. If its socket 1150 go with the 4430. Should suit you just fine. Just make sure that if the board is socket 1155 you get an i5 that starts with 3 and if the board is socket 1150 get the i5 that start with 4 or you will ruin the socket and they wont RMA it.

Since you don't want to overclock and have chosen an lga1155 socket motherboard I recommend picking up a xeon e3 1230v2 for $200-230 or so. It's basically an i7 3770 less the iGPU for the same price as an i5 3570. Either that or go for an i5 3470.
