Solution
This is the full tech sheet for what is compatible with the intel hm55 chipset which is inside your laptop
REMEMBER you need to have the very latest bios installed and you need to do this with your old CPU inside it.

http://ark.intel.com/products/43183/Intel-BD82HM55-PCH#@compatibility

it seems your in luck Intel® Core™ i5-580M Processor
(3M Cache, 2.66 GHz) End of Interactive Support 2 35 W N/A Intel® HD Graphics

REMEMBER ... just because its compatible does not mean it works inside the power threshold / heat envelope of the laptop chassis. On the ram front ... YES more / faster ram will help you massively espeically if you are running multiple applications at once .

good luck

Most laptop cpu's are soldered and can't be upgraded. Two gigs of ram is not enough imho. Four gigs minimum.

I would go to the manufacturers website and see what other CPU's were sold with that laptop. I would not use anything that is not alreaady sold with that laptop.

you need to match the wattage of the current CPU

bios for that computer needs to support that chip also.

before anything else make sure you can remove the CPU

CPU is not soldered, its able to upgrade but i am not sure about latest bios of Lenovo G560 whether it will support processor or not if i upgrade to i7 or i5 having good performance

^^ i am running my PC on latest BIOS right now and their is not any latest update since long time my BIOS version is 2.15 will it support the core i5 580m and right now i also checked using CPU-Z that my processor is running on 25W does that mean 35W core i5 will not work and what you mentioned "N/A Intel HD Graphics"? i did not understood and yes RAM upgrade will improve i know but thinking of CPU also reply whether it will support or not

ok so ideally you want to keep your power draw the same or it will change the internal thermals / power consumption of your laptop , this does not mean that the chip will not work , but because the cooling / thermal displacement or power management were never designed to git rid of 35w only 25 you could risk damaging your system in the longer term.
