Question Which cpu upgrade should I aim for?

I am currently running a radeon 6700xt and a very old i59600k. I am looking for a cpu upgrade but I feel like it’s an absolute jungle. I wouldn’t be a afraid to drop a few hundred and future proofing is important for me. I mostly use the setup for gaming and for occasional pretty heavy duty orchestral music mixing. I’ve noticed since I got 6700xt that my cpu (ofcourse) is bottlenecking ny gpu a lot. I’ve looked at the 14th gen intel CPU’s however they do have some known issues now…. Although I’ve never used amd before I am more than willing to switch I just don’t know to which one. I’ve looked at a ryzen 9 7900X and so on but I really don’t know what to get. I of course try to take Black Friday in to account, thx

Edit: I can also add that some of the deals I’ve found are: i5 14600k for around 280Usd and i9 14900k for around 460Usd, a ryzen 9 7900X for around 380Usd

Also found a ryzen 9 7900X Tray that has previously been used in a server and is now being sold as a used tray cpu in perfect condition by a trusted pc shop for 290Usd

I would advise to go as new as possible, in both not used but also recent releases. New in general to ensure that it is performing at max capacity, and recent because the newest CPUs seem to demonstrate increased productivity gains in addition to AI enhancements/functionality.

There is a deal on an i514600k for 234 usd, worth it? Or grab a more high end like the i9 or a ryzen equivalent

There’s been reports on newer Intel CPUs at least in the higher end of the lineup of issues with cpu degradation. So to me I can’t recommend Intel for that reason right now.

This is from someone who built an Intel rig last year for the first time before all the details came out. I don’t think 12th gen is as affected but those are what a couple of generations old?

There’s been reports on newer Intel CPUs at least in the higher end of the lineup of issues with cpu degradation. So to me I can’t recommend Intel for that reason right now.

Very true feel the same about that issue. The newest gen is 14th so it’s two generations old. The 12th gen would definitely not be a bad pick still tho. However I would want something i can keep for 4 or so years so I wouldn’t mind dishing out a bit extra for a more flagship ryzen cpu. Just having a hard time setteling for which one
