I have a gtx 970 and I used the disc to install my driver then I played BF1 and I got 80-112 frames, later I tried playing BF5 and it said my driver was to old so I updated it to the most recent driver and now I have 50-60 frames in BF1, what driver is best for my GPU So that I can play modern and old games at my gpus full potential?

The GTX 970 supports the latest driver. But if you are experiencing performance issues, then kindly ROLLBACK to an earlier version, which seems stable for your OS and games. You need to experiment. Though, even the latest drivers shouldn't pose any issues.

Anyways, always do a CLEAN re-install of the GPU drivers. Use this DDU tool, and do it in safe Mode:

Tip: There is no need to ALWAYS update your GPU drivers, system drivers, BIOS etc., unless you are facing some serious issues with your current version. Sometimes an older BETA driver is more stable than the recent WHQL certified ones !
