Hello,

I am looking for opinions on which laptop will give me the best performance basically for gaming. I am interested mostly in demanding strategy games, eventually simulators. Examples of such games are Mount and Blade Bannerlord, Three Kingdoms Total War, Rome 2 Total War, Troy Total War, Modern Naval Warfare (when it arrives), UBOAT.

I found these two options of similar price:

Option 1: MSI Vector GP76 12UH-278CZ. Price: 2,379 €
CPU:Intel Core i7 12700H Alder Lake
Display: 17.3" IPS matte 1920 × 1080 360 Hz
RAM 16GB DDR4
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 8GB
Hard Drive: SSD 1000GB
OS: Windows 11 Home

Option 2: ASUS ROG Strix G17 G713RW-KH006W Eclipse Grey. Price: 2,349 €
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 6800H
Display: 17.3" IPS anti-glare 1920 × 1080 360 Hz
RAM 16GB DDR5
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8GB
Hard Drive: SSD 1000GB
OS: Windows 11 Home

Which one is the best?

There's no clear winner.

The MSI has the better GPU and a CPU that's slightly faster than the ASUS. Despite having an Intel processor, there's no Thunderbolt support.

The ASUS has a better screen in terms of brightness and contrast. There's no webcam. There will be no Thunderbolt because it's AMD.

If you're not bothered about the lack of Thunderbolt and don't mind a screen that's only 244 nits bright (values over 300 are considered bright) then the MSI is the one to go for.
