Its out of:

edit: changed my mind, 660 ti is not worth it.

3GB 7950 MSI OC ~ $315

Edit: considering 2GB Radeon HD 7870 OC ~ $235

Is the 7950 worth the 80$ more? Can both overclock at the same amount?

For gaming of course, ill be playing Skyrim, COD, BF3 and a mix of other games.
I have a 3570k 3.4ghz CPU and 8gb RAM if thats necessary, if you need anymore info just comment.

I have looked at the GTX 670 but it costs over 100$+ more then the 660ti and I cant really spend that much/ think its necessary. This is the same case with the 7970 card (its 120$+ more than the 660ti).

I currently use a 22" HDMI/DVI TV, 720p 1366×768 res I believe.

You know, if you pick up a GTX660 you'll only be looking at ~10% less performance than the GTX660 Ti. You wouldn't be able to tell them apart in the real world. GTX660 is your 'bang for the buck' winner - excellent performance for your money plus the benefits of adpative vsync (you want this!), plus FXAA, TXAA and PhysX. The alternatives are OK choices, but the Radeons will lose you those benefits and the Ti won't give you the performance edge you're paying for.

like most people say, 660 ti is not that great,
if u want high performance pc that WILL last atleast "3 YEARS IN ULTRA" go for 7950

or if u want a bang for buck and after a few years it wont be able to play on ultra, considering the next xbox may come next year!! go for the 7870.

If it were me i would go for 7870 and enjoy almost 60 FPS in almost all games, and saves money.
If after a few years u think u need a new card that will play everything on ultra, just buy a new one then :pt1cable:

i say go for 7870

It's a good point about longevity - you want something that will last. Unfortunately, it's impossible to predict the rate at which system requirements will increase. Release of the next-gen consoles will likely mean progress in game graphics (and let's not forget GTA5 and Crysis 3) so by that logic, grab a GTX670!

Honestly, if a future game is unplayable on a GTX660, it's gonna be unplayable on a GTX660 Ti, 7870 and 7950 too. To turn 30fps performance into 40fps you'd need a GTX670. That said, I'd personally put my money on GTX660 serving you well for a long time. It's well under the GTX670 price and probably a smarter purchase.

So you think the 7950 is not worth the extra 80$?

I agree its decent value for money but, even with the Physx and other marketing tools Nvidia has, the 660ti still doesn't have as much potential, its max overclock/performance is small in comparison to the 7870 OCed, AND the 7870 is 50$ cheaper where I live. When overclocked the 7870 is comparable with the 7950, but the 660ti isn't in the same league as the 7950.

in short at 1080p a 7870 is more than you will need !!!
just noticed your resolution is a paltry 1366*768 . 7870 is it then. even if you do upgrade to 1080p soon you still would be able to max out any game with the 7870 :kaola:

yeah as i said too,
7870 is more than enough for 1080p for now.
660 ti as u know is overpriced.(the ti of this gen Nvidia was dissappointing)
then u say u can also go with 7950, that card is a step above the 7870!
if u can then go for 7950, and if u keep playing at 720p, that card will probably last u until the end of next gen of consoles!!

Wait wait wait ! You have 1K.

And here you go

http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=38845&vpn=VH236H&manufacture=ASUS&promoid=1306

Or this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236302&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

And a GPU

This is a great card. But its BIG to.Check your case and mobo.

And @1080P that 7970Ghz will max out every single game !

You dont need to spend 1K on a GPU @ the res.Maybe get a SSD.

So just 1 thing.1K was only for the GPU or for the whole system ?

there u go
a few tweaks though.
if u just want to game, u can save some money rather than go for 1000!!
i say dont get the i5 3570K just a regular non-k CPU with a h77 or h71 or even a b75 mobo.
for GPU u have 2 choices 660 ti and 7950.
but if u dont want to go above 1080p or multimonitor a 7870 is enough.
tell us your needs(like resolution, multimonitor, photoshop etc)
or just gaming at 1080p.
